I don’t have my pair with me to confirm atm, but aren’t Explorer vented at the front of the shell?
I need to try another cable. Stock could be all miswired.
Not that I can see. Serious driver flex going in and out and the pressure built up really quick like.
Check the very forward-most point of the shell, like where the shell and faceplate meet pointing in the same direction that you face as you wear them. Pretty sure there’s a little baby vent hole there.
As for driver flex, I’m sorry to hear that and you may just have a bad pair (or bad luck) unfortunately. Not every IEM works for every ear, I am sad to say.
Edit: vent is there, pic shamelessly stolen from a review on Reddit since I can’t take a shot of mine:
I’ll check them and give them another shot tomorrow for sure. The more curious one to me is the Pula. I flipped phase on one ear and it didn’t change but I’ll try another cable. They sound completely wrong and not just not my preference but defective.
I’m only after one or two sets as I have none, yet. I’m enjoying the Himalaya for now.
Yeah iBasso warns about that. Let me know if I can help at all , not sure how much pull I have with HiFiGo but I can always ask my contact if you are not getting anywhere.
Yeah I thought so as well or pressure relief from nozzle back into IEM?
Buy the Simgot tuning kit or Moondrop Kato nozzles for the Himalaya as I find the stock ones short.
Great write up! Seems like it could be a really solid buy considering is price!
How does it handle dynamics and microdetails? Some IEMs with a musical focus can smooth things over a bit too much, but it sounds like the Tino still keeps enough engagement without feeling analytical.
Thanks. I’ve been looking for the Simgot nozzles and they seem to have dried up on Aliexpress. I’ll hunt down the others…
Himalaya with the stock/short nozzles is pretty good to sleep on side but I’d like a pair of OK sounding that are great for side sleeping. I’d rather not kill a good cable or break the pins off in a good set.
I see Moondrop CHU II as good side sleepers but would prefer resin vs. metal.
Any recommendations for a dedicated side sleeper?
Ok, the Anvil 114 cable is bad. Swapped to a known good cable and they sound completely normal and quite good though a bit ‘slow’/thick in the bass regions but could be a synergy mismatch with the Hiby R6 III 2025. Wide stage but no depth or height. I don’t think it’s in the same league as the Himalaya but really good for the $.
BA timbre is hard to un-hear
If that is the only vent, that is not enough to prevent pressure build up and in unlucky cases, driver flex for me at least. Need a vent around the nozzle area to prevent that.
I did that first thing, no change, still completely messed up. A known good cable is working with them just fine.
Must have been someone new at the cable solder station that day Somehow managed to completely cross the signals to zero out stereo and yet it sounds worse than just mono.
And you rotated the 2pin on ONE side only? And nothing happened? Thats impossible…as it would have changed either from in phase to out of phase or the opposite…
It’s likely only the lithium polymer battery that’s bad. $29 (cost is probably less than $5) and bob’s your uncle. See if you can get it back from them…Bloom in US stocks replacement batteries.
Not if the wires are still shorted.
If they are that bad then yeah defective is an understatement…
There is supposed to be a pressure balance mechanic inside the nozzle per marketing, no idea if it works as advertised but Explorer never gave me issues.
I am pretty sensitive to pressure, so anything that doesnt have a vent near the nozzle always gives me some issues sadly…
