I was just wondering if there was a cheaper R2R / Multibit option than something like the Ares II or the Bifrost 2. Something to get my foot in the door. I know there’s the multibit Modi, but that doesn’t seem to get much attention (I assume that’s for a reason). I currently have an SU-8, and think it’s fine. I’m just curious about R2R and was wondering if there is an option I’m not considering.

If you don’t mind buying used, you may want to consider a Soekris dac1321 or a Massdrop Airist R2R. Both are more affordable options with the Soekris being the more analytical sounding one and the Airist being on the fun side with some pretty great bass.
I do not mind buying used. I have been loosely looking for an Airist R2R. Seems like they are not easy to come by. I’ll check out the Soekris. Thanks for the suggestion.
No problem. The only one I can say you may want to stay away from is Audio Gd. I have owned 2 different dacs from them and they were pretty awful.
I am very curious to compare my SMSL SU-8 to the BF2.
Hopefully there is a large difference between the two or I will be VERY disappointed. 
Do you have a BF2 on the way?
I have it here now, but it won’t speak to my DAP. I ordered a digital splitter to hopefully address that problem.
In the meantime, I loaded up my seldom used laptop to use that in the living room with my system.
I will be hooking it up tomorrow. And doing my comparison Friday and through the weekend.
