Just saw this article by the verge. Trump triples tariffs on low value packages from China and Hong Kong | The Verge
90 percent of the value per item? O_o;
I don’t want to get super political on this forum, but this REALLY sucks ass if this ends up being the case. Would buying from The Hangout (Singapore) be a workaround, I wonder? Anyone know?
Yeah, I was hoping to get SMLS’s new CD transport, but it is out of stock and the new tariff will be 125% as of yesterday. So we will be paying double or more for some items (depending on markup/profit margin ). China was the only country that the 90 day suspension of tariffs doesn’t apply to.
The used market is about to explode for Chi-fi products.
The used market is going to get more expensive too. Demand for the used gear will skyrocket without enough supply to meet demand.
this could bode well for CDN’s…become easier / cheaper to ship to us instead of the USA!
Wonder if triangle shipping would help solve this somewhat…
(China → Europe → USA)
Pretty much what is happening at the moment. It would cost me 1.5x the price of that SMSL CD Transport in tariffs alone (not including broker fees). Just saw the tariff on Chinese goods was increased yet again today.
That has been done a long time in EU.
cool, good to know. At least there are reasonable workarounds to this trade war.
Genuinely F this admin. lol
Basically almost doubled the price of a $99 IEM
Anyone who votes for anyone who imposes this BS is NOT my friend. You can go away.

@ZeosPantera This is for your new Collab IEM btw. Better start telling your US viewers they should expect to pay nearly double the original cost.
So what happens if you have a friend in china buy something for you and mail it to you as a gift? Maybe someone in China would be interested in charging a $25-$50 fee to buy and send iems until all of this blows over.
If the product is made in China, it doesn’t matter where it’s shipped from, tariffs apply.
Westone is all designed, manufactured and assembled in Colorado, or perhaps now Texas since Lucid Audio bought them…but I think they are still intact in Colorado Springs
He’s asking if they can get around it by having it shipped as a gift and declaring low value. Which yes, you can, but if you get caught, you can end up paying penalties, I believe. Also you have to know someone in China willing to do it for you.
