Closed headphones, +bass

So I have a pair of Sony z7 and a lcd-2c at home and a Sony 1a at work. I hardly use the lcd’s because they make enough sound that I might as well use speakers.
Now I’m thinking of getting rid of the 1a, taking the z7 to work and selling the lcd to get some other (better?) closedback. Question is, what?

My shortlist now is:
Sony z7 (basically just another pair for at work)
Beyedynamic T5P 2nd gen
Massdrop Mrspeakers Ether Cx
Denon 9200
Fostex 900
Sony z1r

Price wise I would prefer sub 1000, but someb expensive options are tempting.
For at home the will get a long 4 pin xlr cable so detachable cable is a must. Source is an Oppo HA-1.

Looking for other ideas and comparisons against my LCDs and z7. They are very much appreciated.

have you considered some noise cancelling headphones ? like the nuraphones or the sony 1000x ?

I actually have a pair of Bose 35 (not the second edition). I love how practical they are, but don’t love the sound…
Really tempted to just get a second pair of the z7. I like them, and second hand they are so cheap that it’s almost impossible to justify the additional spending to get something else. Almost…

yes, the bose qc35 sound is average at best. the sony 1000x and the nura have a completely different sound, you should try them.
though it’s true that a second hand Z7 is quite cheap

if it’s for home listening, you might want to try the Z1R. it’s a Z7 better in every way. it will blow your budget though.

If your primary concern is bass, the best headphone from your shortlist is the TH-900 by a mile.

When the ORA graphene Q closed backs come out then we will know what is worth money. They claim to have the best detail and frequency response ever and wireless.

Haven’t those been “in development” for like 3 years?

Check out the Campfire Cascades. The bass is fantastic, its full, rich, and is truly the star of these headphones. Only issues I have with them is the weight (heavy) and a hot spot on the top of my head from the headband (have to bend them to match your head shape.)

+1 for the Campfire Cascades! You can tune them if the bass is too overwhelming for you, sounds like they are in your budget too.
