Compact closed back under $150

After some closed or minimally open back under $150…

Non-amp dependent is a must. I have the 5k so that would be the cap but not preferred. Primary use would be private movie listening. I’m after fairly light weight (not dt770) Couple options I’m looking at.

HD25
K371
Kph30i

Thanks

Out of the 3 you listed, the K-731 is the only closed back over ear.
For long sessions, I’d say go with that.

Check out AudioTechnica M40 and M50.

Have mine on right now, and the moment I take them off it will be the “eugh”-discomfort that makes me question if I want to keep them.

The AT headphones are more comfortable with aftermarket pads.

But why buy a headphone that needs modding to be comfortable when you can buy one that is good out of the box?

Coolermaster MH751
Sennheiser HD280 Pro
The AudioTechnica M40 as mentioned above but you would need to buy new pads for them
Meze 99 Noir: $200 but they are exactly what you’re looking for (minus price). They are lightweight, not amp dependant, blocks out sound, great for movies.

Because it’s a really good headphone. The added comfort (and depending on the pads, added width) is worth the extra money.

Just because it fits the OP’s criteria. Yes, there are other options - I’m simply giving a suggestion.

@thecannon7 take our suggestions and read some reviews on those headphones. Headphones come in different flavors within a price point. We have different preferences so there is no one best headphone. To me the M40 is light, has a good seal and, a fun sound (perhaps a bit too much bass).

I changed the title. After a compact option. Doesn’t have to be on ear but it seems that it may need to be. Minimally open like the Kph30i is fine.

I’ve always read good things about the Koss but I don’t think I’m after quite that minimal? Any feedback on the hd25? Or something similar?

Do yourself a favor and grab a pair of the KPH30i’s, they are so cheap that it’s worth trying. I still don’t think there is a better headphone under 150 USD.

You could try the Sony MDR V6 I enjoyed mine when I had them, those block out noise well but the pads are too shallow to really be called on ear. I would try the kph30 though it really does sound damn good amd if you don’t like it you didnt lose to much money

Anyone have thoughts on the 7506 vs 371?
