Cool vid from Abyss

Everything is definitely skewed left. Except where the guy (DMS?) is physically walking around and producing sounds.

Anyone else ever had channel balance difference in vidā€™s, effecting only some parts of the video? Usually hitting right between the ā€œscenesā€ of events from a YT processing artifact?

Iā€™m no tuber but i have uploaded, edited and played with many vidā€™s.
Some how none has had a channel balance difference from a sudden processing artifact event. Havenā€™t also never heard other vids from the thousands of thousands i have watched and listened.

Might have been a cloudy day and the old lady did not buy the newspaper that day, effect.
For all we know.

Nope but YT is as dodgy as fuck.

lol. True, it has itā€™s own. Taste for doing things.

Iā€™m placing my betā€™s for the old lady to get the news paper next time. lol
Maybe the special artifact will be gone on next upload or the new version will be balanced out if not even re-recorded. Magic of sound editing or more work for DMS.

free tip. Make it better and donā€™t rush it this time. :innocent:

That is a new one. With how fucky Googles software offerings are, not all that surprising.

It is! Only oneā€™s in a lifetime event.
Iā€™ll make popcorn just be sure.

For just a half second, I misread the thread title as ā€œCovid from Abyss.ā€ And I wondered what new horror this wasā€¦

Oversharing. Sorry. Carry on.

Tis a funny thing being an IEM user I was amazed by how well the up and down test worked the with Z1Rā€™s, Iā€™ve never analysed or thought vertically but yeah there you have it IEMā€™s are more than just a 2D cerebral analytical experience LOL

It could be volume normalization being applied independently for each channel, if the right channel has an inaudible rumble or noise it might make it quieter. But as far as I know volume normalization should be applied to both channels otherwise you end up with balance issues. Unless itā€™s a thing to level both channels because some vids have balance issues to begin with. YT is very obscure soā€¦ hard to know for sure.

I watched this in the morning off my tv. And figured my ears were skewed or the tv in the corner is bouncing weird. Glad to hear im not just odd out.

I found this to be a technical evaluator. Not to say if a headphone is bad or not, but to compare one to the other.

So they released a 1.85GB, Flac.wav file of the Ultimate Demo.
Iā€™d still stay it ainā€™t the ā€œUltime Testā€. Since there are issues still in the overall sound.

Iā€™d even be mean enough to claim the released flac has had a ā€œmake overā€.
Would dare to say itā€™s not the original.

So the 2 upper lines (blue text), are from the Wav file, just released.
Right channel has had a boost, itā€™s also audible. Difference between left and right channels.
Could be my PC being weird but audio clips also. Few lineā€™s go over scale were it happens alsoā€¦ so.

And when Compared to YT audio (red text).
Left and Right are more in ā€œvolume balancedā€ if thatā€™s even a term? At the first, big waves, then something f-up happens and everything is on the left and louder.
You can hear there is difference and itā€™s even visible to the eyes, comparing the same parts of the test song.

Itā€™s better than before for sure butā€¦ i would expect more and i ainā€™t even a sound engineer.
Sometimes i just pay too much attentionā€¦ to thingsā€¦ and have too much spare time.
With HD6xx and not with the good speakers.

Given that, I would guess there was a Pad switch left on somewhere in the chain for the right channel.

Quite a bit of snobbery calling it ā€œthe ultimate testā€. But most of their videos are like that, soā€¦

Wasnā€™t sure where to post this. Josh Valor included an interesting interview with the lead engineer from Abyss in his ā€œAudiophile headphones for beginnersā€ video. Not sure why this wasnā€™t its own video lol. Interview starts at about 16:45

One interesting tidbit is itā€™s much easier to prototype planar magnetic drivers compared to dynamic driversā€”which is one of the reasons Abyss only uses them.

listen to sinatra. all the testing for proper placement you need. sinatra was recorded very well and the soundstage should mimic a real live show if the headphones are capable. ie you hear the instruments where they would be in the concert just like a concert. big band recorded well, should give you all the testing you will ever need. philharmonic orchestra, london orchestra, ect. they all have very well recorded music that should give all the soundstage, imaging, and detail one could need for testing.

That part in video with Lead Engineer from Abyss was pretty good.
Good key words and general information for the many.
Special thanks to ā€œDMS - idk what he does, but thanksā€ this was a lol
