So I just ordered a FiiO FT1 because my JBL 760NC was having all sorts of connection issues. I was thinking I could just plug it directly into my PC, but then I remembered that I have a Denon AVR-1312 for my 5.1 surround setup. So I have two questions: which would sound better—plugging it directly into my motherboard (X870 Eagle WiFi7) or into the 6.3 mm jack on my Denon AVR-1312? And my second question: would something like a FiiO K11 R2R be noticeably better, or is that not recommended for this kind of budget headphones? I’m quite new to this audio stuff, so I hope you can help.
Driver > source…saying that the AVR HP out is probably the worst option, no one who designed an AVR amp was ever worried about the quality of the HP out .
Motherboard out is probably the next best option?, so maybe try both and see what you think?
Personally I’d spend the extra and go with a dedicated dac/amp because that’s what they do and don’t playing second fiddle to other tech/outputs
