Another thing I wanted to ask is, when you were testing the BL-05s, did you test it with the stock cable? We all know that cables are snake oil, but I discovered today that when A/B testing BL-05s with stock cable vs aftermarket cables, the fullness of the set really comes alive with the latter. That genuinely surprised me since I never cared for the stock cable out of the box, but now I really think that the crappy stock cable was hindering the performance of the set… I’m imploring you to try the set again in your free listening sessions and see if there’s a difference

True that. The cable has some sort of issue on mine too. I believe it’s the polarity of the pins.

Thanks for the Impressions! Interesting take. You are the first I hear saying, that the Variations has less detail and clarity than the timeless. Everything I read so far states the opposite.
Either way: I was really looking forward to that review, because I own the timeless and I am on the fence wether I should buy the Variations as an upgrade or not. I guess I will hold of from buying the Variations. Even if it may turn out that I’d like the Variations better than you, it doesn’t seem to be a clear upgrade (+diminishing returns)… so Timeless will be it for the time being.

The starsea was one of the first iem to cross my audiophile radar. I never pulled the trigger on it but I always kept it on my list. With your feedback, I can finally bar it definitely (there are so many iems in this list already, making it smaller is better for my wallet).
In the same way, the first impressions I collected for kotori dauntless were very positive. Then I saw a graph and though it would be a dangerous by: either I would love it, either I would hate it, there would be no middle ground on that set. I eventually heard your demos and your impressions, and I can cross that iem too

I have the CRA and agree that it’s pretty harsh in stock settings. but when I EQ 5k & 8k peaks it gets REALY good and I love it…! ( I also reduce low end by 2-3 db)
can I ask your opinion about CRA if anyone consider taming those peaks somehow (either EQ or mod) ?
Hey Dan, hope you are doing well. Thanks to your sound demos I’m a fan of Youn Sun Nah now but sad to see her song “Hurt” disappeared from your apple music list or disappeared from apple music completely for that matter. I use apple music too so not being able to listen Hurt on the go hurts me a lot
