Dayton Audio 6-1/2" Down Firing Active Mini Subwoofer Kit

I was looking for a small sub for my desktop setup. I currently use kanto yu2’s and love them, but due to their size they physically cannot produce low end. I’m not trying to get chest thumping bass but just enough to fill out the low end for music.

I was looking at this dayton kit and was wondering if anyone has tried it out. It doesn’t have many reviews. I was considering the kanto sub6 but I can’t justify spending $200 on it.

Let me know if anyone has and other suggestions as well! My space under my desk isn’t that big so I am hesitant to go for an 8in dayton sub or something.

Might be decent, but a couple things to consider. Only 6.5" driver, I would recommend 8" if you can fit it. The amp section includes power for passive speakers which you don’t need, but can be beneficial if you do go passive one day. I run a cheap monoprice slim sub with my YU2’s.

I second going to a bigger than 6.5" driver. The bass on a 6.5" will be there but won’t be satisfying.

the sub 6 will get you to mid 30’s with room gain. its a solid mini sub. parts express also has 8" diy kits. but they are much better quality drivers then sub6. you will also be looking at around 300$ with amp for one.

the sub6 is like the mini subs you get from logitech 2.1/5.1 kits but with a much better driver and cabinet.

Ahh I was also considering the monoprice slim sub. Do you have the 8inch and how is it?

Yeah I had the thx promedia 2.1 which had a 6inch sub and it had plenty of bass for my bedroom. I’m not listening at crazy volumes just background music while I work or play games. If I had a bigger room I would for sure get a bigger sub though.

Yeah I think if I was going for an 8", I would just pick up the dayton sub-800. I’m trying to spend less than $200 since it’s just a bedroom desktop setup so I’m hesitant to pull the trigger on the sub6. But the sleek and compact design is tempting. That’s kind of why I was looking into this 6.5" kit. I can just paint it matte white and save $75 compared to the sub6.

I’m pretty sure I have the 8" slim. On sale for $100 atm.

I might buy this. The volume control seems like a really cool feature. You can adjust overall volume with the top knob and subwoofer volume with the middle knob.

This one looks good, esp with the bland & unbalanced in/out. For me that makes hook up easy. Otherwise I’d have to spend an arm and a leg on specialized breakout box.
