Dedicated portable player benefits?

Ok audiophiles, I’ve only rocked my U12T and monarchs mk2 on dongles for my iPhone. I have a dedicated desk set for my Topping e50 and L50 dac/amp but I don’t use it for IEMs. I personally don’t believe in using my desk setup for anything but headphones like my Edition XS and my IEM’s on the go. And while I’m only 5 years into the hobby I’ve never used a dedicated player, only my phone.

So I ask what will I gain from buying one? Will it allow my streaming still as well as downloaded mp3? And what sound advantage would it actually deliver in hour and quality vs an apple dongle and my iPhone?

I have a bunch of DAPs, but I’d say, if you are happy with the sound of your dongle with your IEMs, then I’d stick with your setup. Save your dough for investing in the music instead.

If you ever decide to move your headphones from desktop to portable, then let’s talk again then.

Cheers!

Daps with Android will definitely be easier for you to use local files such as mp3 or flac compared to IOS.
Although I argue you get a better value from getting a budget android phone and pairing it up with a dongle like the jcally ja3.
