Deezer confirms massive data breech affecting over 200 million users

it’s bad but not as bad as it sounds…so far.

Seems like the info the hacker got is pretty basic and doesn’t seem like a big deal. Obviously, no data leaked would be ideal and we should all be concerned when something like this happens, but, as you rightly noted, this could’ve been worse. In the article it also mentions that Deezer no longer uses the third party service provider that got hacked so there’s some comfort to be taken in that fact as well.

Good catch though and thanks for the info! :+1::sunglasses:

Deezer has 200 million users? Really?

That was my first thought as well. Seems a bit high but what do I know?

Looking a bit deeper into this, the breech actually occurred in 2019

Seems like this took a long time to get out in open light.

that’s due to the breech coming from a third party Deezer was using in 2019. they stopped in 2020 and as the article said they didn’t find out about this until recently…though even then, waiting 6 months to release this news is lame.
