I use the rnhp alot with the clear, adx5000, and final d8000 pro for studio. I use other headphones with it as well but those are commonly something I pair with it. I also use a warwick aperio (but that has itā€™s own dac amp) and speakers for mastering. Use all my other headphones depending on the situation as well. Also the dac I have it connected to is the lavry quintessence which is a bit overkill :stuck_out_tongue:

As long as you have a software decoder or converter you can pretty much play anything on most dacs

Regarding the clear vs the elex. The clear is a step up, but itā€™s got a more neutral signature and is more amp picky. I know a few people who actually prefer the elex to the clear as the elex is more enjoyable to them because of the signature (neutral yet slightly w shaped). The elex also isnā€™t as picky as the clear when it comes to amps, so the elex is more forgiving in that regard. The elex is just a better value imo, so I would recommend it over the clear, and if you really end up liking the elex, it might be worth upgrading to the clear. Also when people do comparisons, a lot I see say that the clear is so close to the elex. This is the case on a less than ideal amp for the clear like the thx. But once you get into better amps, the benefits of the clear over the elex are made more apparent. You just gotta factor in a higher cost for a better amp along with the price of the clear

Also dacs get crazier than that lol, they can be pretty nuts (like one I recently picked up). TBH I wouldnā€™t spend more than a grand on a dac for this tier of setup

Is the spark really that far off from the heresy? Like night and day or marginally. Just bought one for my Aivas. And now you go and say that lol

The Spark is better than the Magni 3, the Heresy is better than the spark. If iā€™m honest if your looking for resolution the Heresy is a noticeable difference vs the spark.

The spark rolls of some of the peaky high frequencies by design and it slightly bumps the mids. This is why so many people including myself love the Liquid spark. BUTā€¦ listening to a variety of songs from RAP, R&B, to classical style Hans Zimmer orchestral sound tracks the tail end of the notes the resonance of strings and the reverb of some voices is fuller and present on the Heresy and its thinner, or not really there on the Sparkā€¦

To put it another way, music on the Heresy, like the SP200 and Archel has a sparkly to it that some other amps like the Magni 3 and Spark donā€™t have.

Also as a side note until I post the review. The OG Magni 3 has a veiled sound compared to the Heresy. Think about it this way. The OG magni 3 sounds like someone put a decent speaker in a large room and is playing the song. The Heresy sounds like the singer/ band is in the room performing. The Heresy has a fuller body much more premium sound. Its a huge diffrence between those 2.

I think if you can get the Heresy for a test I would. If you can own both the Spark and the Heresy, I could see the value in owning both. If I had to choose one it would be based on the music you listen to and the headphones you own. Neither is bad.

After owning one for a while, itā€™s a pretty nice system tbh, but honestly since I listen to so much you would still want to have different headphones to okay around with. Sold it after I got the warwick

I think if you wanted to for the rest of your setup go ahead, but I would suggest to not connect the amp and dac to that as imo you have a chance of degrading the sound

Thanx so much for the detailed explanation, im upgrading from the FX Audio dac x6 so sure even the spark will be a massive upgrade in every sense possible.

Please tell me youā€™re going to plug that big, beautiful, Greek monstrosity of a DAC into the RNHP?

It makes me feel cool knowing that the same HP amp Iā€™m using is somewhere fed by such a device.

I am really thinking about it lol, I will probably end up doing that at one point

I have 2 of those in my office, but my audio gear isnā€™t plugged into them.
I get blackouts 10 or 15 times a year, usually for a just an hour or so, and I have a whole house generator, but it takes 18s to kick on, so they keep my computer running and some other critical gearfor that 18s.

They do not really condition power, you can hear relays click when they swap over to Battery power.

Unless you have power problems, power conditioners really arenā€™t worth it. There is a reasonable argument for them on expensive very powerful amps, since the fluctuation in power draw can be an issue.

The Rupert Neve amp is the next big thing i think. in that price range. The Master Switch website posts a best of lists that is really respectfull. its the best list ive seen on the internet actually. and the Rupert amp is number 2 after the Schiit 3+

What does ā€œOGā€ stand for?

Original vs heresy vs 3+

so the ā€œOGā€ is the orignal?

I think OG is short for original gangster.
Basically it means old school.
But Iā€™m not really up on these new fangled abbreviations.
