I don’t think anyone here needs reviews of the Ares II, but I really like his explanation of an R2R DAC, which is simple, visual, and accurate.
Also complementing it: although you can’t measure a signal with a multimeter, the output of most DACs, and especially the R2R ones, are voltage levels that can be used to reconstruct the original wave.
