btw not trying to come off as rude, i like you
I said i âwishâ I didnt say he âshouldâ. take it easy there sparky. wishing is not a crime
wish and should are similiar enough
Whoa⌠Thereâs absolutely no such thing as âobjectivityâ when deciding when something sounds âbetterâ. Itâs always going to be subjective no matter what. =/
Even ASR⌠despite basing their recommendation purely on SINAD measurements⌠it still comes down to subjectivity when youâre deciding a DAC sounds better purely based on SINAD.
Even comparing a WAV file to a 128kbps MP3⌠the only objectivity there is one has a higher bitrate. Deciding the âHigher bitrate file sounds betterâ still purely comes down to subjectivity. That is just how it works.
Itâs going to be the same way with high-end gear vs low-end gear and everything else.
Like my carâŚIâll take my old beatup hatchback of a car over a Ferrari any day of the week. If I got the Ferrari anyway, Iâd just sell it, rebuy my hatchback and put that money towards other things.
If Zeos likes the sounds of a Blon 03 over the Senn HD820⌠then as crazy as it may seem⌠thatâs still a subjective thingâŚ
Lets maybe just calm down and realize thereâs a ton of subjectivity to this hobby and the best anyone can do is just to try things for themselves and decide what they like or whatâs good enough for themselves.
I have never disappointed by his recommendations ! i like my ikko0H10,argon mk3,audio gd,hd 600,ifi nano bl.if hes all about money he will put tons of ads in his video
I can agree that he can be harder on higher end pricier things, but lines up with the same mind youâd have as a consumer. Think about it. You pay 300-500 bucks for headphones, even if they are not perfect, you may think, well they really do some stuff well for the price. On the higher end of things, paying over a grand or 2 grand or more, small quibbles can mean a lot more because your expectation will raise with the price. You canât be entirely objective as a consumer because you will always expect more the more you pay. If I buy a Lamborghini expecting civic quality and performance; well then why am I not just buying the civic? As a reviewer and audio enthusiast, you should be making reviews from this consumer mindset because to some extent you should judge performance to price. The entire basis of economics is that human beings purchase things out of rationality. Any rational consumer looks at cost and value for the dollar. If you judged one product at 400 dollars the same as one at 3000 it would be entirely irrational.
Of course audio is in a whole different ball park because sound is so much more subjective as many put it. You could just like the sound signature of the 400 dollar pair of headphones more because it suits your taste, and to that consumer it makes that purchase invaluable compared to the 3000 set. However, even with the subjective nature that goes into audio, you simply canât break that rational thought of price to performance. You will also deal with much more setbacks in a product that cost a fraction of the cost of another.
Also, he doesnât always down on high end gear. He praised the crap out of the empyreans that are 3 grand.
Overall, there is always going to be more value in something that does 75 percent of what you want it to do vs something that does 90 percent but costs 6 times the price.
Just my 2 cents.
âOnly human after allâ
Reviews in general: Keep calm because YMMV
Zeos often does a good job to point out where things have gone wrong in the design process. What good is the worlds best headphone when your ears fall off after 5 minutes of wearing it?
Lastly: When a small garage scale company with two friends making stuff produces a dud, that is a shame. When a company with hundreds of employees has a bad design that goes into production and then has a flawed product ship to customers, that is a failure.
That statement is objectively false.
What you would need to do to properly benchmark DACs is to feed frequencies of all kind (1Hz to 20kHz, sine, square, triangle, sawtooth) and then meassure the deviation, crosstalk and all the other things manufacturers simplify down to X%
This would then prove a DAC to be accurate (to a limited extend), which does not make it good.
You have no idea who this guy is, right?
Zeos does not hate highend audio.
As in his words âi donât think iâm qualified to talk about them. In any short of meaningful wayâ.
so thatâs that. He might be scared to talk about them.
But i like how the talks and goes on with the vids. The cursing the babbling is funny and i like his voice.
How can anyone hate high end audio if theyâre into audio?..itâs like a petrol head saying they donât like Ferrari or Koenigsegg.
I mean maybe they just donât like those brands just like many audio philes who avoid beyers cause itâs too sharp for them or others who hate sennheiser cause of âveilâ⌠Jkjk I knew where you were getting at. Personally itâs not that I hate high end audio but the higher end you get the more bullshit and potential snake oil arises
This is true and also the âiâve got a $500,000 system so I know what real music sounds likeâ crew, and if you ainât got the $ you know nothingâŚI reckon most of us on here would spend circa $500,000 on audio if you earn 5x that a yearâŚno?
Meh, I donât think Iâd get past $100k including an Orpheus, just out of curiosity. Depends if you work with audio though. I could see $500k for a professional studio setup quite easily.
Pretty accurate
Thatâs business so put it against your tax, but if you had the spare change? you wouldnât at home?
I mean Iâm already in the 100s of thousands for just fun too
Iâve been doing commerical mastering on the side for a while, and only recently have I decided to take it full time once the studio gets built and a leave my current job (most likely in the next 5-10 yrs or so before I quit my main job)
Probably not.
Would buy everything of my wishlist (~20k) and then be sitting here with a stupid smile.
Edit: Make that 25k actually, for a good frequency generator and oscilloscope.
Would probably set a monthly budget of 2k for living and 10k for toys and donate what I donât need.
Honestly, what the fuck is a single human meant to spend millions per year on? Sure crying in a Bentley is nicer than crying on a bike, but you are still crying.
20K may cover #MONâs new cable fetish? lol
You know thatâs not the way this hobby works. Youâre nit pick that and convince yourself that the nit picking needs to be addressed and before you know it youâd have thrown another 5k into it.
I am also doing my PC enthusiasm wrong collecting old computers instead of all the new fancy stuffâŚ
I am wierd like that
Yep MF is in deep self denial lol
