Yeah, that looks nice
Main trick is to lower the mid-bass, the specific hz you want the shelf to start from depends on the iem, but usually from 150-400hz is where i would look at for that one. Then the sub bass boost to both compensate for the mid-bass shelf reduction AND to boost it more (in this case it is essentially 8-3=5db sub boost, so set your preamp to -5db). Upper treble boost can sometimes help with bass texture IMO (strange I know lol).
Currently trying it out…
I changed the pre-amp to -5db after I read your last post, didn’t take into account the (-) 3dB in the mid bass. Will report back soon!
So far, yeah, it sounds good for sure, but the bass it self still lacks that reverb and texture so I’m going to go ahead and assume this is more of a hardware limitation opposed to a tuning thing. Still, sounds good! The Magic One takes in EQ like a champ
its still a single BA so, perhaps it cant handle boosting both sub and upper-treble (which usually is where a single BA struggles with and why you pretty much never see a single BA they just struggle too much with the full range). Try the same but without the upper treble filter.
It just sounds darker and muddy… The upper treble lift actually changed the sound dramatically. It didn’t cause any issues. I think I’ll keep it!
Not a driver limit then. Judging from the graph it definitely looks like the stock one is pretty dark there. you can also try setting the treble filter to start from 7k instead and see how you like that.
I’ll definitely play around with it a little bit when I have more time!
Thanks again for the insight, brother
Another thing to try would be to lower the sub bass filter. The hz and q values for the bass filters should be pretty good so you can mess around with the gain a bit.
I’m most likely going to try something a little farther back to let the mids open up a bit more. Maybe even 100hz with a slightly cleaner tuck… but that’s just using my ears right now. I shall be back later!
What happened? Are not reviewing anymore?
Not as sick as your shots D-DAWG
I’ve been having Chemo and Radiotherapy for throat cancer, which has not played well with my hearing (or anything else TBH). I have constant noise in both ears and have also become very sensitive to any loud noise.
I’m not sure whether the effects are short or long term but at the moment I can’t even listen to music unfortunately.
Sorry to hear that, I hope everything turns out well and you can get back to happy listening in no time!
I’m really sorry to hear that, brother. I can only imagine. Sending love your way
You’re too kind, Jay
The damn compression made the shots so much dimmer than they actually are… god dammit
Lowkey dig that mysterious vibe
So sorry to read this. Hope you get a full and speedy recovery!
Hope everything gets better for you man
