Damn that’s rough. We buy so many consumer electronics, we don’t often stop to think about what could go wrong.

Batteries can do this. Sometimes there’s no outward sign anything is wrong. Could have passed every inspection the factory could throw at it, and still enter a runaway thermal cascade on its second charge.
