Just want some opinions DT 990 Pro for 140 dollars or 58x at 160 dollars. I will be using them mostly for gaming.
It depends on what type of gaming imo. And I would also recommend the dt880 250 ohm over the 990. What do you prefer and what types of games do you play?
do you have a stand alone mic already? if not, the CoolerMaster MH752’s could be considered as well. an audiophile grade headset for gaming.
The mh751/2 is pretty good as well, super comfy if you want a more relaxed closed headset
Have desktop mic. Play mostly fps with headphones
Do you have a dac/amp? If you want a brighter sound that would be wider with good imagining, the dt880 250 ohm would be good if you had an amp. If you want a more intimate sound with great imaging that you wouldn’t need an amp, the 58x is a good choice
I use the dt880 for gaming and I definitely prefer it over the 58x for music and especially gaming.
so what do you like the the 58x for then?
I owned both for a brief time, but ended up selling the 58x. I ended up replacing it with hd600’s. The 58x was a great place for me to start but after about 2 years i got bored of their sound. Still great headphones but for gaming, the beyerdynamic imaging and slightly wider soundstage is a big improvement in terms of gaming. Honestly, you cant go wrong with either, but for gaming the dt880 will serve you better. Just make sure you like the slightly brighter sound signature.
The sound signature on the 880 is also more suited for games as it emphasizes sound cues in most games, and also has a more even response so it also is less likely for sounds to be drowned out by others. But for pure imaging performance I do think the 58x is a tad bit better
have both prefer the 990 for gaming I love it for muskc but definitely too sharp for most. while I think its better than the 58x for gaming the 58x is definitely not a slouch and is a great all rounder for gaming and
is great for music
Thank your Rice Guru.
I haven’t used 990 but have gamed with my 58X and they’re great. I have a pair for sale if you’re interested.
