Hey, all! I just recently received my pair of rikubuds Grand Saber 2 and decided to share some thoughts on them, bear in mind I wont use any technical terms and it is mostly a “do I enjoy them?” kinda post lol
First of all, Kevin is a great guy, he went above and beyong after a scare of a package that never reached me, thanks for that.
Anyway, on to the buds themselves…damn! Like a lot of other people these are the first earbuds I have used since the earbuds that came packed in with my ipod Classic like 15 years ago or something. I never found them super comfortable, they would hurt after a while but after listening to iems for some time now and reading about how earbuds are so similar to open headphones I got curious.
I was a bit wary about the fit because of previous experience all those years ago with other buds but these are super comfortable, I can wear them for hours without any physical annoyance and, same for the sound! They are very inoffensive, to me, which makes me keep going for “just one more song” on and on. And even then they are quite fun, the bass is very present but not overwhelming at all, in my opinion. I mostly listen to rock, metal and some hip hop every now and then and I think Kevin nailed it with the description for these since I think they are a great fit for all of these.
I am really enjoying the soundstage as well, they do sound kind of like open headphones and there are songs where I definitely feel/hear the sound coming from further away than the earbuds.
If I had one complain it would be the cable, I had the 3.5mm termination so I didnt get the choice of one of those braided cables he uses with the balanced versions (if I am not mistaken), and the one I got is kinda plasticky and kinda goes everywhere but it is fine.
I am using a Qudelix 5k to power them and no complains in that regard, more than enough to drive them to comfortable levels in my opinion.
So, to answer the original quesiton… do I enjoy them? Hell yeah! They are a ton of fun to listen to and the combination of me constantly wanting to listen to “just one more song” along with the being quite comfortable is a killer combo in my book.
