Good Morning / Afternoon,

I’m very new into the HiFi world so I apologize if I got some nomenclature incorrect ahead of time! I’m not sure how to upgrade my DAC.

I currently have 2 JBL P308 MK2 and a LSR310S connected to my Schiit Hel DAC.
My headphones are ATH-M60xs and they too connect to the same DAC…While this setup has worked wonders and served me great, I would like to upgrade my DAC, while I haven’t decided on brand yet or anything of nature, I’m trying to figure out what equipment I would need. Do I need another DAC with AMP combo? Or do I just buy the 2 separate components? Then hook the JBLs and such etc to the amp and control the volume via said equipment? Or even better, is there a guide that explains when you would need certain pieces of equipment or is that trial and error?

second, what’s your budget?

two, if you get a DAC, it would be wise to get a new amp as well, as connecting it to the HEL is a bit redundant and the new parts will be superior. if you game, do keep the HEL, that’s a no brainer. :slight_smile:

three, looking at the used market can often save you a significant amount, which in this case, likely will help in being able to afford both a new DAC and Amp!
