EU hd58x vs he4xx (build quality)

Hello.
In a few days i’m gonna buy headphones and i still can’t decide which one i should buy.
I wonder about He4xx or HD58x (both for 210$ because of massdrop eu shipping)
My source: FX DAC-X6

The problem is i’m afraid of build quality of 4xx because some people say that they have problems with left chanel and quality is not good enough for the price.
HD58X looks more solid but im afraid that they will dont have enough bass for me (i’m not totally basshead but i have read that he4xx have more punchy bass)

Which one is safer purchase? I just dont wanna have problem with headphones and send them to guarantees.

I would say both are great, and I don’t think the build quality on the 4xx is much of an issue. I think both have ample bass for sure, but if you want the tighter quicker bass the 4xx is great, and if you want a warmer more “traditional” bass response

If you are extremely concerned, the build of the Sennheiser is a bit more reliable

I have had my HD58X’s for about a week now. The Build is solid and their weight is minimal. They are super comfortable to wear. (IMO)

These are my 1st pair of “HiFi” Headphones so my opinion is a bit biased, but I absolutely love the sound. I think the sound is sharp and well defined across all spectrum’s. I listen to a wide range of music, Blues, Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Jazz, ect. and they sound great. I personally think they really shine when listening to acoustic tracks.

I would say the hd58x vs 4xx is more of a preference thing imo, as both are great for different reasons

Bought my 4xx back in May and I’ve had zero build issues, I think most of the QC problems have been sorted since the first few batches.

I personally prefer my 4xx over my 58x, but I’ve also modded my pair a bit as well… which changes the sound. if you like bass there is definitely more with 4xx vs the 58x, but there are mods you can implement on the 58x to increase the bass if you need to. Really it’s gonna come up to preference because both are very good for their price point.

If you are a bass head I wouldnt reccomend either tbh. If you like bass both are pretty good he 4xx is more bass heavy if you cans drive them.Take a look at the Fidelio X2 big boomy bass for a open back the bass does have a tendency to leak on the mods alittle bit personally I don’t mind that because they are pure fun.

FX DAC-X6 is enough for 4xx?

I would say yes it would be fine unless you listen very loud.

If you did feel that you wanted an upgrade, the fiio k5 pro would be great

I have both and recently put my HE4XX’s up for sale. I definitely prefer the sound of the HD58X’s.

That is a little surprising as a few years ago I bought the HD6XX’s and I really didn’t care for them. Yes, I am part of the tiny minority that does not worship at the altar of HD650/HD6XX.

I find the HE4XX’s muffled (wooly?). This is my second pair of planars, the first was Oppo PM3’s. I liked both initially, but quickly found them boring. Maybe I am just not a planar person?

I think the HD58X’s are a great affordable headphone. I bought them used so they were Super affordable.

PS: I should also mention that build quality on my HE4XX’s was/is Great.

Does planar headphones sound much different than dynamic? I don’t know if I will like planars… maybe 58x is safer purchase… ahhh i still can’t decide which one should i pick.

Planars typically have a faster and more snappy sound with great separation and layering, while dynamics typically have a more organic, natural type of sound (overgeneralizing) Regarding the 4xx and 58x specifically, the 4xx is a bit v shaped with quick subbass and highs and a bit less mid-range with a wide soundstage. The 58x is a bit closer to you and more of a warm, thick sound

I think the 650 is boring and has almost nothing to offer except for detail. If you can’t offer. Me better imaging and detail the cheaper Beyers at least sound exciting.the 58x on the other hand is great good imaging mixed with a mod centred neutral sound signature with adequate bass is really nice

I think the 650 can offer way more then the 58x imo, as it has more detail, great timbre, excellent mid-range and a non fatiguing sound

I mean the 58x is not aat all fatiguing. with a great mids. I would agree that the 650 has good timbre but to me was just boring like I said almost nothing to offer me personally as it lacks in stuff I tend to look for in a lot of my headphone gear. but I will say the 650 is pretty fucking great tubed but… I kinda like th edt 880 600 ohm better on tubes. which is abou the same price.

I guess I phrased it weird, because yeah I agree that the 58x isn’t fatiguing. I just think the timbre and midrange on the 6xx is sooo good compared to the 58x. But I would agree that the 58x makes more sense for most people
