European places to buy

Hi all,

I live in The Netherlands and I’ve noticed that there really aren’t a lot of places around to buy a lot of the stuff that is talked about on this forum. Well you don’t mention what you are looking for, but my main go-to European online stores (apart from Amazon) are:

https://www.schiit-europe.com/
https://oidiosound.co.uk/
https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/
https://www.fiio.eu/

But often is the price at the same level or even lower, incl. shipment and tax, after buying in the US. And some items are not sold in Europe at all and most can be sent directly from the US to Europe.

Hi! Welcome to the club, try Thomann.de, zococity.es, audiophonics.fr, are good places to start.

Since you live in EU. All hifi-stores are available in the region, from where you can order (product + shipping).
What are you looking for, what specific product?
To my mind that is more important than few well known stores.
I always take the time to find the product i want for the best price. Even if it long takes time, well not that long since i know how to narrow the search pretty quick.

Custom’s and taxes is a small “glitch” for getting what you want.
Plus the product might still be cheaper than locally bought or ordered… if it already is available in home country and cheap…ish. Why even search more?
World is a open market.

Couldn’t agree more. I decide for the product and then find the best deal (price, returns, service etc.)
e.g. many buy directly from ZMF due to the great service by Zach himself.

I’m not looking for anything specific right now. But for instance I was looking at Dekoni tips a while ago since I heard a lot of people talking about them, but I couldn’t find them anywhere and google shopping only redirects me to Aliexpress, which is a bit of a hassle since I have to wait very long and pay customs. The issue I have with customs is that last time I had to pay cash or with a credit card and I never carry cash and I don’t have a credit card. I then had to arrange a car to drive for half an hour to go to a location where I could pick up the package and pay with my debit card. I don’t necessarily care about the extra couple of bucks but more the waiting time and potential road trip to pick stuff up.

Unfortunately Amazon often carries products which are not send to The Netherlands, making it extra frustrating.
That’s why I wanted some more sites where I could look for stuff when I need them, thanks all!

Well this took like ~1min of searching. It’s much easier when knowing the product you want.

And the rest. dekoni audio europe - Google Search
Then it’s just finding the best price for what you want from anyone wanting to deliver/send.

And that’s why the products is important in my mind. Help’s alot and not finding every hifi store since they sell from vibrators to boat propellers and so on. lol

Maybe the Dekoni tips were a bad example. I was browsing the stores mentioned in this thread and found the FH5 on sale for $50 cheaper than I had found them before. Thing is that that Spanish website did not show up when I was looking with Google. I’m not going to buy them right now, but now I have some more options to look for sales and stuff.

Naa, it was a good example.
The search engine settings can be changed, it might not show everything you would want but that’s stuff for another topic.

Method how i find thing’s/product’s for the best price does not change.
Still takes time and might take time get them but in the, saves money.

Also, https://www.muziker.nl/ (has multiple european country-specific web domains). I seem to remember them offering price matching on some audio stuff a while back, so in general you can expect to see low prices here.

And ofc if it’s something based on integrated electronics and you don’t have to have it brand new, eBay (with country-based filtering if you search via geo-ship.com).

I got the Fh5 from Zococity for 229 euros , same price as my Fiio M9. I also bought Dekoni tips from them as well as a DT1990. Returned the Fh5 without problems. Shipping within Spain is quite cheap, don’t know about the Netherlands though…

When you add up to 29% (depends on product) import tax on top, something that is worth it in the US is suddenly not worth it in the EU.

Think i dont know that? Just paid about 30% more from US order than product price…
If you want something, you pay for it and all the additional cost’s.

If what you want it’s only US or somewhere else. What choices is there?
And it still is worth if you still want something. That was the point, rest was mentioned on same post.

I recommend a European HiFi thread. All these s a l e s and promos and discounts and new gear on this thread… and most of them only for the US market.
It really annoys me how cheaper it is to be in this hobby if you live in the US. Not to mention some of the best stuff is literally unavailable in the EU market (cough Elex cough)

Question is, what are you going to post there. I seldom see good deals on hifi products in Europe, there is one store which sometimes has nice outlet prices, but the brands they sell is rather limited. Other than that you’re basically happy if you can find stuff for not too much over MSRP + taxes without the hassle of importing.
TBH, I have given up. My next IEMs are probably coming from Linsoul.

Yeah I know…

Truth be told, I’m kinda interested in people who own stuff like Dali or Cambridge Audio and stuff like that. Dali has some amazing speakers and I always wonder how they compare to Klipsch and the likes. There aren’t many reviews for them other than What HiFi - which is a ridiculous site.

And yeah, my last 5 purchases have all been from Linsoul. Best audio to date

I had already compiled a list, which is a community wiki (i.e. you can edit it) Best Places to Buy Headphones and Gear - #9 by Pelontar, but I don’t mind if you want to copy all that into a separate thread.

Could we make this so people can add to the list? Maybe in a separate thread? I do have some stores from the Netherlands that I feel should be up there. I don’t mind making the thread, but I wonder if we can do it so people can add stuff or whether I should just make a thread and then add people’s suggestions.

Can you help us mods? @M0N @Ohmboy @WaveTheory

Can do but where do you suggest we start/move this to?.. it already has a title and is probably in the correct section IE Off-Topic…you can still add your own personal recommendations to this thread, I can’t really see why it needs amending :man_shrugging:
