Iām inline with that thought too. I prefer the native sample rate of the file vs upsampled. If I was OK with upsampling cart blanche, I would be fine with my existing solution for AMHD playback (PC via USB ā DDC via AES ā DAC) but that still doesnāt help with the consolidation aspect as I still have a dedicated music server and another player for streaming those local files and from internet too. Thatās where the appeal of the A6 comes to play.
Has anyone tried to cast the screen to a Android TV yet? I would like to see the VU meters on my TV.
Thinking of buying the EverSolo.
@Michael_K Welcome to HFGF!
I have not seen any posts or reviews talking about the eversolo casting to Android TV, but if it does that would be pretty cool. The meters would make for an awesome visualizer.
Thank for your reply. Thatās exactly what I mean.
I would think that if you can cast to a tablet or phone you could cast or mirror to a tv also.
So, Amazon HD is more enjoyable but have you tried using Apple Music via the app they offer?
I am wondering if this unit would be more functional than my present setup. I use an iPad connected to DAC via an USB then to my AVR.
The idea of a native Apple Music app streamer/DAC sounds good but is it?
Any suggestions?
I have not heard apple music so really not able comment. I stream Qobuz via roon. Been pretty happy with Qobuz quality and selection. Donāt really like their UI that much, but thatās where roon comes in.
I have a lot of fun with this streamer. Everything works great with the exception of the Apple Music App. Using an Iphone as controler it works fine but for me the screen is much too small. So I went and bought an IPAD. More screen and better overview. I use a subscription on Amazon HD and Qobuz as well as Apple Music. The Apple Music app however is extremely slowly using it with the Ipad Air 2. Does someone have a solution for this? I must say that I downloaded the App from the App Store instead with the QR code on the A6 itself. Should that make a difference? I will try tomorrow but in the meantime any suggestions are welcome
I recently picked up the EverSolo. For my the UI will be learning curve. It came with an internal SSD with music. I wasnāt able to see any library. It did an update when
I first powered it on. I cant help but wonder if the update erased the drive.?? I love that it connects to the phone app easily. The FiiO R7 wonāt connect to the FiiO app. I asked Z about but received a less than helpful reply. I also emailed FiiO. They said āthey were hoping to possibly have it worked out in the next updateā. Too bad it is also a really nice player but maybe Iāll use it more after the update. The DMP A6 also included a remote but its not how I prefer to use the player. For now I stream mostly from Tidal. Amazon music is okay but I dont care for Qobuz. Terrible UI. The best UI is still Blusound. I listen to the A6 with Sennheiser 8xx. They were very fatiguing on other sources. Dekoni pads helped. I also added the internal linerar power supply to the A6. It must help because the fatigue on the Sennheiserās improved significantly from this. Iāll eventually try another headphone but I first wanted to keep variables limited. I run the A6 through a 789 or a tube amp. For now the tube is warmer, so smoother. Again easy on the ears. I think the tube has decent power but the solid state has three gain settings⦠I think. For now Iām happy with this setup. Once i figure out disc ripping and transferring files then Iāll look for more improvements. And hey⦠I hear they just released the DMP A8. I wonder if thereāll be a master edition?
Yes its possible to cast VUās to a 77" OLED. Just takes some fiddling.
I actually cast this thru my roku. I dont know how often I would use this but it does work. It probably would work better going from a Samsung phone to a Samsung tv. The cast couldnāt find my Sony but it found the Roku. Weird
Has enyone else started looking for upgrades and or improvements on the A6? I picked up the master for the opp amps and improved clocking. I mean, it just makes sence if I donāt want to add a separate DAC to this stack. The option is still there but it wouldnāt make sence to buy the lesser and then try to make improvements. I added the internal linear power supply and a well insulated power cord from a good power protector. I might try changing the fuse as well. I donāt know if it helps but it probably couldnāt hurt either. So what changes have any of you made?
I have not been able to get my unit to recognize the CD input. Does the Disc drive that you connect to DMP-A6 USB OTG port have to be USB 3.0?
I installed an SSD and formatted it with no problems. I have an LG disc drive that is labeled USB 2.0 connected to the player with USB cable that came with the unit. I have tried many times but have never been able to use the internal storage on SSD yet.
What is your issue, the CD drive not running or you cant get the M.2 SD card up and running?
The unit if finicky about the CD drivesit works with. The problem is thereās not enough supply current to run both of the 3.0 USB ports simultaneously. A 2.0 USB cable is not the issue. I ran a powered Y splitter cable to the External CD drive and it works fine. Try connecting the CD drive to the lower USB input not the OTG connection.
As for the SD card you need to format it in the A6ā¦I formatted the card then hooked up an ecternal 2TB hard drive to the OTG USB connection and transferred my music files to the blank SD card inside the A6.
You can use a laptop to download the files into the A6 too.
Go to their website they have lots of helpful tutorialsā¦
No issue getting SSD recognized or formatted. I never thought the USB cable was the issue because I am using the one Eversolo cable that came with the player. My question was if the CD drive output needs to be USB 3.0, because my CD drive output socket is labeled USB2.0. The LG CD drive I am using has its own power supply.
But I want to thank you as you have largely solved my problem. I did as you suggested and plugged the cable into the lower USB socket (underneath the USB OTG input) and the EVERSOLO player recognized the CD drive! I have been trying for months to get this to work and I would have never thought to try that because the owners manual says that socket is an output to connect to an outboard DAC. Thanks again.
I never did get multichannel sacd of flac 5.1 to work always in 2.0 dont know why this is . i stream the files via a nas server. my 200 euro android player works fine with multichannel flac and sacd audio . my reciever is a yamaha aventage 3040
Does anyone know if the A6 M has replaceable opp amps?
