Hi guys,
Name 5 must have headphones for headphone enthusiast.
This could be categorized by price to performance or expensive ones too.
Just something that is so good and exceptional or even unique for its kind.
Not a list of the greatest or the worst but a list none the less.
1/ Zmf headphones whether it is the least or the most expensive, (Differenty tuned drivers as well as different drivers
2/ Audioquest Nighthawks
3/ Audeze LCD 2 pre fazor
4 /Focal Elex
5/ Koss portapro’s or KSC75s
All very different yet VERY good for what they are.
a koss of your choice below 50usd, they are all legendary. and it’s pretty much the only things i’ll recommend to anyone without worrying about nudging them towards a purchase they may not be happy with, if you are more into high end i think i’d rather not.
so it’s not that i haven’t been through high end headphones it’s just that koss are so damn good where they sit
ill mention some highly highly sought after headphones of extremely different qualities to each other though because i think that may be interesting if you are not familiar with them already!
Focal Clear
something ZMF
something audeze
i have not heard them except for the clears and an aeolus which i just assume to have the house sound of ZMF but the reason i list them regardless is because my understanding is that they are on the very top of high end sound at the same time as they should all sound very unique. They seem to be seen in setups together often because they are “complimentary headphones” to each other.
ZMF stuff is probably the type of headphones i’ve seen the most of together with very different type of headphones in various setups
My own favorite complimentary headphones probably being ZMF Aeolus with the 800s, none of which i own right now but have owned, i don’t really feel like having anything complimentary ATM, both my arya and aeon noire fill out movies and different genres of music just enough to where i’m not left feeling wanting for something more in something that would be specialised, but specialised headphones will definitely elevate an experience more if you play to the strengths they specialise in.
ZMF aeolus and 800s definitely seem more like specialty headphones to me that you could feel more like swapping happily between depending on movies and types of music, or not! some people rock hd800s’s for everything, it’s all to how you feel about it yourself!
man i really ended up writing a lot
RAAL is a must-have for its sound performance and due to the fact how different it is from every headphone on the market.
I think ZMF’s are a definitely must-have due to the whole experience.
Now for number 3 it would either have to be Focal’s or the Sennheiser’s — two of the largest commercial audiophile companies.
I think Kennerton deserves a number 4 for their different and innovative approach/technology. But I am questioning whether it is a must-have.
Number 5 would have to be a planar-magnetic headphone. I think for this it’s either Audeze, Hifiman, or Meze’s. Perhaps Audeze and Hifiman are on the same level, while you could have Meze and Rosson Audio in the same category (both are a very unique and exquisite experience)
Now, I did miss out on electrostatic headphones, but I think they are pretty much top-of-the-line. I believe they require the most amount of knowledge and the most investing.
When it comes to headphones, you want to have as much variety as possible, getting the same driver type with little change will likely not result as much satisfaction as listening to various driver types which differentiate heavily in sound performance/experience. Audio Technica is a company I missed out on, but it could be added to the list where Sennheiser and Focal belong. But I still firmly believe that RAAL is the TOTL, because once you are set with your normal type of headphones, you get a completely unique and different experience with the RAALs.
For the price, value and sounds you get from that is exceptional? it’s KOSS!!
KPH30i and KSC75s and I blame this website for making me buy those headphones, therefore I am currently at a point that I don’t use my M40xs, MH751s, DT880 Pros and SHP9500s like I often used to back then!
Like holy shit! This is some kind of enlightenment given by these good people right here. But yeah, that is just how I see it as an exceptional headphone imo.
