can’t really choose between my 990, 58x and 4xx, but been in this hobby only a few years.

With my very limited experience it has to be the fidelio x2’s. Just got into the hobby this year and I’ve only heard 2 offerings from koss and the shp9500’s but when I put on the x2’s I must’ve listened for hours. They’re comfortable and work very well with the genres I gravitate towards (rock metal hip hop mostly). I’m sure I’ll find ‘better’ headphones in my journey but these are like a warm blanket.

My Audioquest Nighthawk Carbon. I wouldn’t trade them for anything else. Unless that thing was worth more, then I could sell it and get the Nighthawk Carbon again and something else with it lol.

yeah I get that. I guess if I was MKBHD these are my M50x’s. dont necessarily measure badly but I love them and is well hated. it does bright treble for me the way I want it a spike at the 10 k and holds back more than most bright headphones at the 8-9 k also paired with my liquid spark which smooths out some of the peaks a little bit It’s like my ideal bright.

For me it is a toss up of price ranges. Budget is definitely the CALs. Mid tier Argon Mk II. Higher range is a toss up between the LCD-2F and Aeolus.

I would vote for the Fostex T50RP and all the mods and enthusiasm for the headphone hobby those headphones have inspired.

HD 6xx of course. My favorite headphone and my personal reference. Love it to death and always a pleasure to listen to. Add some tubes in the mix and It becomes my most relaxing and enjoyable listening pair.

A relative had the 6xx, I tried them and loved the detail they had, very well extended throughout almost the entire range.

yeah, but EVERY headphone has a hate base. some just have bigger hate bases lol seriously they sound damn good. i miss them. plus they have their own niche.
Argons got my vote but then I pad swapped my shp9500 and started to like those better than the argons. Now I got dt880 600 ohm and those are also awesome.
HiFiman 4xx, it was a close contest between the 58x but comfort and Soundstage are what did it for me. I got it at 110 bucks too, build is great. Nothing to complain about honestly. Although the tuning for the highs is way better on the 58x
