I had to get the Q5s because I did not know what company is good so that I was more suspicious with ChiFi and FiiO has a warehouse in west Germany. Otherwise I would have ordered an XDUOO or without a PS1 and PS2 going into a CRT setup, a BTR5⦠Now I got enough experience with the A90, which costs 539⬠including taxes and duties and I bought it for balanced and using it until it breaks. Headphone-wise I am fine too. I started 2016 with 58x then NDH20 and last year M1ST. Impressive how good the BTR5 is when most devices including non apple notebooks lack in a good 3.5mm dac or amp not sure what part is awful on my Dell XPS 2017 for work but it has instand power-turn-off when no sound plays and peaks once on windows startup or when headphones play music for the first time.
Last rambling: My Asus X570 e AMD ryzen mainborad can not run my neumann ndh20 properly apart from bad sound. I watched Rambo 1 and 2 and played some games and wow. Before I got the Q5s I knew I needed an amp to get at least 70% of itās potential but surprisingly the FiiO could not fill the sound stage completely and imaging was at least halfed.
I wish Sennheiser with its Swiss hearing aid cooperation ever think about a similar product to FiiO BTR5. It would move the USB gaming headphone market with some luck instead of seeing companies make a permanently attached USB dac amp dongle; not all do it. I can see some potential for something like a BTR5 sold with a headphone.
I had a Q1 Mark 2 and the BTR5 for portable use. That was stupid since the BTR5 roughly has the same balanced output power then the Q1 Mark 2. Sold the Q1 and enjoy the BTR5. Its really great. Even the Q3 isnt so far away (220mw at 32Ohm for the BTR5 and 300mw at 32Ohm for the Q3).
In the future I think I will go with Focal Elegias when I find them used for a reasonable nice price.
Just the balanced side? And none of the sides are giving any signal?
If itās yes for both, it could be that either the inside of the connector or the mounting of it is bad. Maybe you could resolder if you can open the device.
Other wise, it can be some part of the chips, and if thatās the case then bye. Although if the SE works, just keep it using for a time.
I just got my BTR5, and I am using it as my DAC during the work day, then when I unplug it, it uses Bluetooth to my phone, and I donāt even have to change headphones. It really is an amazing device. It might not be the most powerful amp, but it solves for a bunch of other problems that arenāt just power.
Since I got a pair of Moondrop Aria IEMs the same week, they are almost always plugged into my BTR5. I need to take my SHP9500 out for a drive today.
I think for most entry / budget audiophiles the BTR5 is a solid solution for a number of annoying little problems.
Having scrolled through the thread, I couldnāt find any info on bluetooth aptx Low Latency use in movies. I really want to pull the trigger on the BTR5 but canāt seem to get any user experience on this particular matter? Something along the lines of stability of signal, volume levels ectā¦
Looking at the Fiio Control app, aptx-LL appears as an option on codec selection, so probably there is support for it. TBH I never noticed any latency problems. Granted I donāt see many movies on phones, but I do occasionally see Youtube videos.
@fabiokelm Forgot to mention, Iāll be transmitting the signal From TV, through a 1Mii B03 Pro transmitter/receiver and picking it up on the BTR5. Not sure how this compares to watching movies direct from a telephone?
Sorry, donāt know anything about this device. I used the BTR5 from my smartphone (Motorola X4) and from some computers: my Dell Latitude notebook from work, and my personal desktop with an Intel Wifi/Bluetooth radio.
I think you should be fine though. Last case scenario you can connect the BTR5 to a phone, use the Fiio Control app to limit the BTR5 to use only aptx LL, and it should be fine.
Then again, Iām not a big content consumer using Bluetooth so take my comment with a grain of salt.
Is it possible to use both out-put jacks to connect two headphones (wired) simultaneously?
Just trying to sort out my options before pulling the trigger on this device.
I watch YouTube with them all the time over YouTube on both LDAC and AptX and have never had issues. The app shows a LL support, but I have never bothered running it.
That is transmitting from a PC to the BTR5, I also have a phone connected at the same time most of the day.
I recently got my btr5 and Iāve got a question , it only turns on when I plug it to my phone and the screen starts blinking ,and when I unplug it it turns off , I let it charge for 2 hours with my phone and when I turn off charging in the menu it charges anyway , is it broken or does it take a lot of time to charge , and I also wanna ask about what charger do I use for it , in the box it said it needed 5v , 500mA , and I didnāt found a charger like that , Iāve read that itās better to charge with a power bank
If itās still not working, try to get a return / exchange. (If you canāt do that, I have one Iām selling, happy to give you a really good price.)
It charges over the USB-C, and I actually plug my in once or twice a day for a while. I just have standard powered USB cables on my desk ( C and micro ). It doesnāt have enough power to get through the entire day. If you press the small round button, it should show the full display, if it is off that is just the power meter. I donāt recall it taking more than 30 minutes to fully charge.
I know there are some odd charging options on the app, but I almost never use it. I set it up once, and then almost never touch the app. My understanding is the app is horrible on iPhone.
It wasnāt like that the first few days , I didnāt charge it when I got it and it worked fine until it hit 2 bars on the charge then it started blinking and only turned on while charging it , could it really be defective
I tried plugging it into a power bank , then I unplugged it and it turn on it showed Bluetooth pairing , then I plugged it into my phone , I choose charge off but it kept charging , I kept unplugging and plugging and then it stopped charging , it may work now but can it fail another day , what I want to know is : is it really defective now ?
