np, I would say that having a good tip collection is mandatory if you are considering/have iems over 100 usd.

For reducing treble, I would recommend as I mentioned above, the Final Audio Type E tips. But if you want to take it a step further with the treble reduction, the Sony EP-TC50 (foam/silicone) works even better in that regard. Although I much prefer the Type EĀ“s though.

Like you, I share the same sensitivity. After experimenting with some tangible upgrades to the FD5 (RHA filter, high purity copper cable and my preferred tips), I completed the fine tuning with my Qudelix-5K PEQ. The end result is good enough that Iā€™ve curtailed my IEM purchasing for the remainder of the year.

I was contemplating the Dunu Zen, but for that amount of money, I donā€™t want an IEM that is just slightly different to the FD5. The Fiio FH5s might catch my attention; but Iā€™ll wait for you and a few others to test it out first.

Hahaha, you already assuming I will get it? :joy:

I wonder if FH5s will be worthy buy if one has FH7

Are there any info of what tuning they gonna have?

Nothing I know.

Would foams increase or decrease the treble thing?

Decrease, but also change the entire sound a lot. Silicones are the best for sound.

Aye foams suck sonically :+1:

honest question:

This is typically said but have you guys managed to find any measurements that back it up?

All Iā€™ve been able to find is that it would be true if your ear canal somehow jammed a significant part of the opening of the foam eartip shut. Otherwise, every study I find shows the iem graph staying the same.

Maybe you guys could point me to itā€¦

Havent seen the graphs, but from listening to them. Qualitative factors cant really get measured.

got it. I can also hear some differences, specially on my shallower fitting iems, but with most of them I donā€™t hear foams altering the sound signature in particular so personally I feel like they are a good tool to aid in comfort and isolation when you need it. Sonyā€™s and Ikkoā€™s specially, just donā€™t know how they would do on the FD5 tho.

Foams are a fast way to get good fit. And as always, better fit = better sound.

So if you donā€™t have a good silicone tip collection, foam can give you better sound. So itā€™s very important that you get a big tip collection.

yeah, i donā€™t think one can survive the tip rabbit hole after buying a couple of the recommended iems on the market

If you have iems over 100 usd. I think it is mandatory to get a tip collection IMO.

So far Iā€™ve tried the Spinfit CP100, the Sony EP-EX10A, a metric butt-ton of stock tips and the Azla Xelastec tips. The Xelastec tips work pretty well, but they get dirty AF and I donā€™t like them very much. On the FH3 the stock silicone tips (the white and red ones) work pretty well so thatā€™s fine. However on the Blonā€™s and the Tin T2ā€™s I canā€™t use anything but foams. They just suck in terms of fit if I try any of the aforementioned tips in basically any size (donā€™t have the CP-100s in Large unfortunately).

Radius deep mount
JVC spiral dot/spiral dot++
azla sedna

They should help.

Definitely, they only help the sound on something like Blons in my opinionā€¦
Without foams, I would need something like triple flange to get deep enough fit.

Try some Radius deep mount tips. They transformed the shit tier fit to something decent on the 03.

My FD5 started to have some driver flex in right earpiece. Not sure if something happened (clogged?) with the earpiece itself or my right ear changed somehow?
It happens with most of silicon tips Iā€™m trying, doesnā€™t happen with foams.
Any ideas something couldā€™ve clogged and I can fix it? I brushed the vent hole but it wasnā€™t dirty or anything, nothing changed anyway.
