šŸ”¶ FiiO FD5 Flagship Single dynamic driver

Since everyone likes pictures and I am screwing around with my new phone, I thought Iā€™d play with some photography of my Fiio collection if anyone cares. If anyone wants my take on any of these sets, Iā€™d be happy to discuss them. Hope you enjoy the photos.

What phone you got?

Take some macro-pics on the FD5 if you got a macro lens. :+1:

The new IPhone. I had a 6 Plus before. What pisses me off is that I guess an IPhone canā€™t take raw, uncompressed photos natively yet? ARGH. Thatā€™s just stupid. I have no idea if I have a macro lens. Probably not.

ā€¦apple has reached a new low lol. Never thought they didnt have a macro lensā€¦

Even some budget phones got it.

You are going to need a macro lens adapter bro.

(next time, switch to android lol)

Are you my girlfriend? Sheā€™s a Samsung fangirl. I dunno if it has a macro lens or not honestly, just now trying to learn what I can do with it. Got a lot of homework to do. Thanks.

lol, I dont really like samsung that much either, but I take them over apple 100%.

I was thinking more about the budget stuff like redmi, xiaomi, oppo, oneplusā€¦

They are like Chi-fi iems lol, very good value.

If you need a macro lens adapter, this is the one I got:

I cant take my macro pics without it.

Looks like I need one. Thanks for the suggestions. Already disappointed with my phone. :frowning:

yeah, even a budget phone like the note 9 pro has a macro lol.

What iPhone is it? The 12 Proā€™s feature a ā€œPro Rawā€ format you can swap to in settings.

Most iPhones over the past few years (since the X) have had a macro lensā€¦ though as per usual on all brands, the main lens is technically superior.

For the 12 series, only the Pro now has the macro; seems Apple figured a extra-wide lens would be a better pick for the standard 12 based on what consumers wanted I guess.

That metallic cable is a Dunuā€¦? Looks like the YBF cable :0 Does it feel thicker, less flexible?

I donā€™t have the Pro, they (Verizon) didnā€™t have any in stock. They only had the one I have. They told me that for taking pictures, the non-pro version had the same lenses as the pro and was less expensive. Right thereā€¦ that Apple ProRAW in your image is what I wanted. ARGH. Iā€™m learning I either wait for some update Apple might release, buy an app called Halide, or try returning for the Pro. Or just buy an aftermarket lense.

Thanks for the help guys. I rarely use my phone. Iā€™m always in front of my computers, so I donā€™t know or care much about them. I use it to take photos, txt and watch YouTube on.

why get a flagship phone then lol.

A budget phone works just fine and is actually still great, while saving you cash to use on this hobby instead. (some of those even got the 3.5mm jack)

That cable is theā€¦

Hereā€™s a picture of both the YBF and the Dunu.

The YBF cable is a bit thinner and more flexible. The Dunu has the adapter built into. I prefer the feel of the YBF.

I donā€™t know anything about phones. My girlfriend has her phone in front of her face constantly and she wanted a new phone. Like I said, I havenā€™t had a new phone since my IPhone 6. Iā€™ve always used an IPhone and itā€™s easy to transfer everything over to a new phone when I get a new one. Iā€™ve looked at her OS and it appears real foreign to me and I am just used to an IPhone. I really havenā€™t given it much thought.

Itā€™s probably like when youā€™re raised in a family with a certain religion or political affiliation. The family usually wants their children brought up with the same beliefs as they have. Many times, the children blindly never ask themselves, what is it ā€œIā€ believe? They just go along for the ride because they were told thatā€™s who they are, never questioning anything.

Youā€™re raising great points. I work in a place where everyone I know have IPhones and Mac laptops. Iā€™ve never really taken the time to think what I might be missing in a different phone brand. I care about my IEMs more. lol

Well, switching to android would help with your audio as well since they got better bluetooth codecs (like LDAC).

And for your use cases, a budget phone will work fine. Check out the Oneplus Nord for example.

Iā€™ve been thinking about just buying a real nice digital camera for a while and being done with it.

I never use my phone for audio listening. Never. My library consists of 16 & 24 bit flac files. I donā€™t think theyā€™ll even play on my phone since itā€™s an Apple product.

We got off topic. If a mod wants to delete this phone stuff, please.

Iā€™m still hoping for a clear single-driver shoot-out. Z has a FD5 review up on Patreon that speaks very well of it.

Maybe you should stay tuned for my Dunu Zen review then.

Zen VS FD5

Zen VS EX800ST

Zen VS EX1000

Zen VS Oxygen

are included.

Looking forward to it.

You guys already convinced me a DD was what I wanted for my mostly classical tastes, so Iā€™m pleased Iā€™m able to narrow things down to that.

It certainly helps narrow down what works for you. As there are too many iems to keep track of otherwise.
