if you want to find the different between spotify vs flac,
use a harsh peaky song, or a song with a clear snare drum hit,
use a good dac/amp,
focus on the vocal and drum,
the initial hit of the drum,
better source reveal more texture,
repeat part of the song over and over again,
maybe 1 second or even less,
train your ear to hear small different by trying many eartips,
Agree what is said. Spotify and tidal has differences. But they are not so noticable with lower tier dacs/amps and drivers. And spotify highest bitrate is actually really good these days. Donât know if these differences are heard to everyone, really not for casual bieber listener. With my revealing sundaras IMO it is quite noticable, and with more forgiving fh3 also but not on the same scale. Using such bluetooth amps as Btr5 for me seems that spotify 320kbps is enoughf.
A few months back, I had an issue with my pair where the left side sounded less bassy than the right side and the overall bass not being that impressive. I always believed that stock tips werenât good compared to third party tips. I kept testing them because of the overwhelming positive reviews these recieved and I didnât want to give up on them. I have tried Comply, Dekoni, Spinfits, Final Audio E, and third party foam tips and none fixed the issue. Then I thought to myself, let me try the stock tips. I found the balanced tips to not only fix the bass imbalance but it also improved the overall sound including the bass compared to all the other tips I have tried. These iems are friggin amazing now! Wow! I was so joyful of this discovery. Can someone explain this to me?
Tips couldnt fix anything if there is really something broken in the iem. But it can fix if this differences was related to isolation and particular tip that fits or not to your ears. So if original balanced tips fixed everything there is only thing that comes to my mind. That these tips really fits both your ears anatomy the best. And these balanced tips are quite good tips, but from what you mentioned you have tried i have tried only few and none of them i liked. With fh3 for me worked wide bore tips such spiral dots and azla sedna. They were better than original because they lowered boomy bass and made it more neutral and controlled also i feel it made treble more open at the same time not influencing original source sound. As i feel any of these original tips tunes and influences the sound a little bit more than i would like so if you like it then itâs best tips for you and you should use it. Perhaps Fiio tuned fh3 with these tips in mind initialy and this was their final tuning. So this is only preferences and initialy i also used balanced tip and liked it the most but not now. After all if you are happy with sound so no need to search for more as sometimes this more could lead to lower results
Hey guys, new FH3 owner here. I started reading this thread before i purchased mine and finished 2 days after receiving them.
This is one of the best ownerâs thread i have ever read, cheers to everyone who contributed with such useful information!
I got myself SpinFit tips even before the FH3 arrived because some of you recommended it, and after trying all the tips i have here i do like the SpinFits better than any. I also got myself a KBEAR rhyme 8 core UPOCC cable as per Rikudou_Gokuâs recommendation (BTW thanks for all the great info you posted here @Rikudou_Goku)
When i decided to get an IEM i chose both the FH3 and the Ikko OH10, i have them both here but i will return the OH10 because i just cannot get a proper seal on my right ear. It is a shame, that one is a beautiful IEM and its sound is incredible, both are really but the OH10âs construction is work of art!
Anyways, really enjoying both the FH3s and the thread. Fiio really nailed it with these huh? Amazing IEMs! I have them playing out of a Schiit Modi 3 + Magni Heresy + Tidal and i just canât stop listening to music all day long.
Thanks, before the FH3s i was using Sundaras as my daily drivers, but i have to quit over the ear headphones for a while to deal with some TMJ pain in my jaw. Kind of worked out for the best, that is the only reason i tried IEMs in the first place and found this incredible pair.
I as well suffer from TMJ. It can be extremely painful. The only thing I find that relieves the pain is laying my jaw on a heating pad on a pillow and try to relax for 20-30 minutes, try to burn it out. Iâm actually backwards from you, needing to use headphones lately due to some inner ear issues.
Congratulations on your FH3. Youâve got one hell of an IEM there. Enjoy.
I am the same as you man, TMJ + Tinnitus + right ear less sensitive. We are so blessed huh??? LOL
But yeah this will not stop us from really enjoying the hobby, no way!
I will try some more tip rolling today.
Cheers!
Just got the Sony ep-ex10a to try on the fh3, I was using the foams. Can anyone tell me what the insertion depth is compared to other IEMs (shallow, average or deep) since I donât have much IEMs to compare to. I think the large ones fit me best, but I usually have normal tips so I was wondering whether the FH3 are more shallow or something
They are literally perfect for me with large sized tips. All the Fiio hybrids have about the perfect insertion depth for my preferences. They donât go into my inner ear as all my Thieaudio IEMs do which is a bit more uncomfortable for me.
Hey @Rikudou_Goku, since you have reviewed many IEMs, is there any options in the same price as the FH3 with a sub-bass and soundstage as good as the Ikko OH10?
The FH3 is awesome, but i still like the Ikko OH10 better because of those 2 things, and the problem is i cannot wear the OH10 for more than 1 hour without it hurting my ears. I wish i could find an alternative to it.
In comparison i feel like the FH3âs soundstage is much smaller and the bass is a bit bloated (i know still good but the OH10 is perfect, faster and more controlled).
BTW i am asking Rikudou_Goku just because i know he reviewed a bunch of IEMs, but i am also interested in all of your opinions.
Cheers!
I havent heard the OH10 so dont know how big the soundstage is. But the bass on the FH3 alone is competing in the 300 usd range with its combination of quantity and quality. So I dont really know if there is anything else in the FH3 price range that competes with it.
I mean, it is the cheapest S ranked iem in my list and nothing else comes close to it in until we reach the 300 usd area.
But if you wanted a bigger soundstage then you can find the LZ A6 for around 180 usd I believe. It is in my top 5 in terms of soundstage.
+1 The FH3 bass quality is in a league of itâs own for its price point. There are other IEMs that have louder bass but understand quality and quantity are very different things.
+1 I donât either.
+1 Even past the $300.00 range the bass on the FH3 holds its own.
Thanks for your response. Yep i really enjoy the FH3 but i just canât forget about the OH10âs bass.
The best way to describe it is it sounds like a planar bass compared to dynamics, it is just so fast and controlled that you can EQ the hell out of it and it will just respond well without affecting the mids at all.
I guess there is no perfect IEM under $200 right? lol
If you want speed and tightness, the LZ A6 is unbeatable lol. Still the fastest and tightest bass I have heard. Along with soundstage which actually might still be my biggest soundstage (bigger than the FD5, havent tried it vs the EX1000 so its definitely in my top 2).
