Hello, I am entering the world of audiophilia and I am about to invest some of my money.
I have Edifier s350db and a laptop to listen to music.
I had in mind to buy me some Sivga 006 and a DAC (200 dollars in total for the two items) to optimize the audio of the headphones and speakers
So I have researched and found the Fx X6 and Fiio K3.
and I can’t decide because they seem to have similar characteristics. I’m looking for a balanced sound in that price range when I need it (since I can have quite a lot of bass with the Edifiers).
Any other suggestion or instruction will be welcome
Imo here is what I would actually do. I would grab an amp like the magni 3+ or jds atom/magni heresy, and use that as a headphone amp and speaker volume control, and get a nice dac later on. That way, you have a really nice headphone amp, and in the future can grab a nice dac as well. Imo the k3 and dac x6 are an upgrade over motherboard audio, but not really a significant one
358/5000
So are you saying it’s better to focus on the headphones since I wouldn’t really hear a real difference in my speakers?
An amateur question … how would you improve the sound in the headphones with a magni 3+? I believed that its main function was to increase the volume in high impedance headphones.
Thank you very much for your answer
What is this?
Imo yes, you would want to get a good dac to improve the speakers, and the edifier already has a decent dac inside there via optical. I think if you wanted to improve upon that, grabbing something like a topping e30 would be what I would do, but you can’t use it for headphones without also getting an amp
A good quality amp will do more than increase volume on headphones. It will overall aid in the quality of sound. It will give more control over the driver, and will lead to better technicalities imo. Some headphones are more amp dependant than others so it would depend. You would most likely see a quality bump on the sivga, but it wouldn’t be night and day, but it would most likely be noticable
I have no idea where that number came from, I don’t know … but it’s there hehe
I use them with the 3.5 cable or bluetooth, I can’t use the optical cable because the laptop doesn’t have that input. Doesn’t that mean I’m using the laptop’s dac?
Corrrect. Your laptop dac is most likely alright, but might be a bit noisy (going off of most laptop outs), I think if you wanted to make an electronic upgrade, grabbing something like the e30 (a bit of a w shaped signature), or an earman donald dac (more neutral but a tad on the leaner side of things). I think this would upgrade the speakers, and down the line work great with a nicer headphone amplifier. The 006 isn’t really amp picky so would be just fine off your motherboard for the time being imo
So a combo will probably ineffectively perform the task of upgrading the speakers and headphones to that price range.
You gave me many things to consider and I will investigate them. Thank you very much you were of great help.
