First Planar headphones

are those gold planar headphones any good? Z loves them but DMS hates them

Controversial, I personally found them alright but not the most sophisticated. I still prefer it to Sundara

edit: possibly also controversial but you could also look at Sendy Aiva

I’m a fan of the Audeze LCD lineup and perform right where they are priced at. The LCD2 will give you great technical performance but still deliver the big planar sound and that Audeze house sound can be addictive. These would sound pretty different from your current collection.
Sendys would be something a little different but if they sound like my Blons I don’t think they would differ enough from your current hp’s.
The Aeons are a great option and are probably my most comfortable set of cans but I have to say they can be a little boring. They are inoffensive and just don’t add anything special that my other plants do.
If you are looking for some bass cannons give the Dekoni Blues a try. They are really fun, resolving enough for me at their price point but be aware they want power. Right now on my singxer SA1 I’m on high gain with the knob at 5 o’clock.

Not saying anything abut GP2000s because I’ve not yet ever listened to them, but Z and DMS openly admit that their preferences are almost exactly the opposite when it comes to headphones, there are many that DMS likes/Z hates and vice versa…

The Dekoni Blues got my attention now, since I don’t really have closed headphones and never tried T50 mods. They sell for 250€ here.
Are they worth it over T60RP tho?

I don’t think so personally (as in they should be cheaper), they are some very basic modding over a T50, and should cost around £150. You can consider the one on Drop atm, with VAT it should still work out cheaper than 250EURO

Whether it’s worth over T60 is a matter of preference

Yeah, I should get them from drop. But I’ll wait with my purchase because it already spend 320€ on the A30 Pro yesterday.
Maybe some audio stores open up again so I can test the LCD 2c or some Hifiman before I decide what to get

I haven’t played with the T60s yet but those would give you a great avenue to mod them into Argon’s. I picked up the Dekoni’s for the comfort of the pads and bass. Generally I use them for movies and music I usually reach for my LCDX.

If you’re open to using second hand you can also get a T50 for cheap, get the Mayflower mod kit for some bass boost, and choose some nice pads like Dekoni or Shure

I have both dt1990 and gl2000. I really like gl2000 after modding. I find myself reaching for gl2000 way more often than dt1990 (on dekoni hybrid pads). The soundstage and instrument separation on gl2000 is so darn good. I would describe the sound on gl2000 more laid back and enjoyable as compared to DT1990 which is more intense.

I’d get a used LCD-GX for around $550, or save up for an open box LCD-X. The egg-shaped Hifimans pinch my jaws so they don’t really work for me.

Open Box LCD-X $949
