First Time Tube Amplifier

Hey everyone! This is my first time here, I’m just starting to get into the audiophile world. I currently have a pair of 6XXs and Sundaras with a Schiit Modi/Magni to drive both. I’ve been loving those.

I’m seeing a lot of places, particularly DMS, say that the 6XX pairs really well with a tube amplifier. If I like tubes, I’m willing to go up in price, but for right now I don’t even know if I like the tube sound yet. I know they’re not for everyone.

Do you guys have any suggestions of a good tube amplifier to get me a taste of the tube world without too much of a financial undertaking? Preferably around the Magni/Modi price. I’ve heard good things about the MT-602. I was just hoping for a little more personalized advice, given I’m pairing them with the 6xx, and I’m really just seeing if I like the tube sound or not. If there’s any 3rd party tube suggestions, please share those too

Thanks!

Only heard good things about the m602
Also the xduoo ta10 would be an alternative if you want a all in one tube Station
Otherwise you could also use a chi-fi tube preamp for your stack for around 50$
If you want a tube amp especially for the 6xx a dark voice or a bottlehead crack are the recommend otl tube amps for beginners but those come at a higher coast

Budget-budget and you want “real” OTL tube treatment, you’re looking at DarkVoice or Little Dot Mk2.

You’re never touching them with your Sundaras though.

If you have a budget senstivity, want a little dash of tube flair for something that will do well with both of your very good headphones and be a bit more user-friendly and less weird - xDuoo MT-602 is perfect. A hybrid tube amp like MT-602 is a pleasant compromise but not necessarily what the mentions you’re seeing are related to.

I’d dig deeper and learn the difference between the two formats, define your budget and you’ll have your decision.
