I got a pair of one of the Fostex TH variations. They sound great, but certain frequencies cause a metal resonance/pinging sound in the cups.

I don’t know if there’s a fix and I’d love for there to be one. I tightened the screws on the right cup assembly, and it seems the ringing has died down in that one, but no luck with the left. It really sucks because I love the headphones, but at remotely high volumes the ping is a killer.
My only guess is that the metal grill guarding the driver is loose, grazing it with a finger or object causes exactly the ringing you hear in use.
