🔷 Fostex TH900

No, it’s just differently tuned and consistent across the different finishes from what I know, since I don’t think it’s a different wood type or anything, pretty sure they all use the same wood, and it’s just a different finish of that wood across the ltd versions

What’s your straight up fav version?..and no $20k source malarky just the most honest Fostex set lol

Honestly I could go either way depending on source and what other headphones I had, I think for a more daily driver only one can I’d prefer the LTD tuning, but if I already had a collection of cans I might instead want the stock tuning.

There’s also a 3rd option, lawton mods, but I won’t get into that, but those can be very cool lol

Thanks Mon I think the LTD would be my preference.

Honestly the LTD are likely the safer option for most anyways, and also hold more resale value so it’s a good place to start if you want to try them but don’t know what to try first

sorry one last point I think we covered the bass contrasts perfectly could you perhaps comment on the difference in Treble performance? Is the LTD perhaps a little more well behaved on the spicy treble peaks? Maybe there is a slight loss in perceived resolution or air because of the more neutral tuning?

Yes, it’s a bit more dialed back and a bit sweeter imo

I wouldn’t exactly call it a more neutral tuning, but it’s a less aggressive tuning. I don’t think there’s really any resolution loss from my experience, perhaps a bit of a loss in energy and slight clarity but in terms of resolution that didn’t seem any weaker
