No, itâs just differently tuned and consistent across the different finishes from what I know, since I donât think itâs a different wood type or anything, pretty sure they all use the same wood, and itâs just a different finish of that wood across the ltd versions
Whatâs your straight up fav version?..and no $20k source malarky just the most honest Fostex set lol
Honestly I could go either way depending on source and what other headphones I had, I think for a more daily driver only one can Iâd prefer the LTD tuning, but if I already had a collection of cans I might instead want the stock tuning.
Thereâs also a 3rd option, lawton mods, but I wonât get into that, but those can be very cool lol
Thanks Mon I think the LTD would be my preference.
Honestly the LTD are likely the safer option for most anyways, and also hold more resale value so itâs a good place to start if you want to try them but donât know what to try first
sorry one last point I think we covered the bass contrasts perfectly could you perhaps comment on the difference in Treble performance? Is the LTD perhaps a little more well behaved on the spicy treble peaks? Maybe there is a slight loss in perceived resolution or air because of the more neutral tuning?
Yes, itâs a bit more dialed back and a bit sweeter imo
I wouldnât exactly call it a more neutral tuning, but itâs a less aggressive tuning. I donât think thereâs really any resolution loss from my experience, perhaps a bit of a loss in energy and slight clarity but in terms of resolution that didnât seem any weaker
