They are actually triggered by the sound of running water to start piling things up, it’s really interesting!

I’m pretty sure it was a rhetorical question. 
I grew up around beavers…they were decimating the poplar and cottonwood trees by a city park so they started wrapping the first 3ft of trunk with chicken wire. LoL!
