Oh yeah. I remember that.
There’s a trend in this country where small sections of academic articles are taken hopelessly out of context in order to get people like that riled up (and therefore to vote a particular way).
That guy spent longer making his sign than it would have taken to actually read the journal article. If he did, (and was able to understand it) he would have realized that EVERYBODY is against child abuse. EVERYBODY. 
But instead he preferred to shout inane things at frightened college professors. Next stop? Pizza restaurants in Northern Virginia.
