It’s impressive the kind of mental acrobatics we perform to justify a purchase for a hobby.
For people outside the hobby spending 100$ on headphones is considered ridiculous, and rightfully so.
Give them a couple of months in the hobby and suddenly 1000$ for a pair of headphones is ok. Or even 3 pairs. And 3 amps. 2 dacs. Silver cables. etc…

For ones in the hobby, spending 10x what “normal people” find reasonable is common.
200€ soldering station vs 20€ iron
$5000 custom workstation vs $500 prebuilt pc
1000€ Hilti vs 100€ Power-Fister
