GAMING first.... but also listen to music.... what do i get? HD 58S/SHP9500

I narrowed it down to two that I want… but im debating on which one to get. The Sennheiser 58X or Philips SHP9500. Now I know they are both comfy thats not a big deal. I also dont care about mics, whether they need an amp or not, those can be fixed with a boom mic or just buying an external mic. This is purely based on sound. Im very competive when i game so i need clarity, sound stage, accuracy, etc. So i want the best one. dont even care about the price difference between the two. I do love listening to pretty much any music type, but if i listen to a song with bass… i want to hear the bass. not muddy bass. but good clean bass with a really nice kick. So there you guys go lol help me out which ones do I get???

I would much prefer the 58x, I think it’s pretty much the superior headphone in every way imo to the shp

If you wanted to throw something else into the mix, I think the dt880 600 ohm is great for that (but you have to have an amp)

So I think that the 880 is a bit more of a neutral sound that has better imaging and soundstage with more detail. The 58x is going to be a more warmer more relaxed sound that’s more intimate. It’s more that you go with your preference.

A fiio k5 pro if you can find one is a great amp/dac

The monolith liquid spark and topping d10 is also a great combo imo

Also if I wanted to throw something else in lol the he4xx is pretty great too lol

Also i wouldnt really need much of an amp with the 58x right?

the dt 880 is more amp dependent has a wider soundstage and beter imaging good for really positional dependant games where distance plays a big factor such as priorotising angles in siege or CS go but the 880 is also very power hungry compared to the 58x. while the 58x tends to be better for people who want a more immediate sound such as hes to my left and to my right read and in front the 880 is really good at this as well but the 58x puts sound just generally closer to you. so fast paced shooters like COD, or quake I like using them with.

I personally think the 880 600 ohm is better resolving with better soundstage and imagining, and the high end isn’t as much of an issue. The 990 might get too harsh or treble intense for some people, and isn’t as detailed compared to the 600 ohm 880

No not really, they can pretty much run off of whatever and be fine

ifyou live close to that buddy you should try them you might like them . but hard to reccomend due to how sharp the treble can be for people

he lives too far lol. i play competitive search and destroy on cod. mostly fps games.

I would go the dt 880 route then. over the 58x personally but that is assuming you want to drop more cash on a amp

Yeah, both the 880 and 58x should be great for that, personally I think the 880 is better for positional audio as it’s more accurate at recreating a space and it’s easier to hear where objects are in that space compared to the 58x. Also I think the 880 works better for a wide range of music since it’s fairly neutral and doesn’t really lack in one area for the price, but you would be spending more because of the amp you would need to drive them

true, i mean the 880 sound awesome. ive watched a couple videos already lol but if i got those i would most definitely drop the money on the proper amp… BUT im not in the potion to just drop the cash like that rn lol so for now i think im going to stick with the 58x and eventually save up enough to upgrade in the future. Thanks you for the knowledge tho! I have been watching reviews for days and just couldnt pull the trigger bc i want the most value for the money i have rn.
