Getting airflow in a small rack?

I have short rack and it’s jam packed full of gear, I need to pull some of the hot air my amplifiers create out of it.
For those of you experienced in studio gear is it better to pull air out, blow air in? Circulating the air would be ideal but I think if I add more than one fan unit the noise level might get to be too much, this rack sits close to my listening position.

Let me know your thoughts please

For dust management, filtered intake is the way to go.

Just to get cooling, does not matter as much, allthough blowing air in is preferred.

Get some slower PC fans. BeQuiet Pure Wings2 at 6V will be barely turning, should be almost inaudible at that point. Any 6V DC wall adapter will do, pc fans don’t need much power.

There are many different types of rack’s with ventilation solutions.
Silent blowing & pulling solutions and proper flat rack fans, silent fans and DIY stuff, cabinet cooling etc. What type and what looking rack you have and how much there is room around it?

Dust filter & management is very good to think like mentioned.

@MadGman, currently i would either have to add a proper fan unit to the back, or possibly come up w/ a small amount of room between the components, if i try real hard i may be able to squeeze something in the front. It’s the amplifier on the very bottom that needs some airflow though. All else is fine, i just need to get some additional air movement around that bottom amp.

Well since the rack is open from sides, there is always dust issue so regular cleaning is needed anyways. Proper 1U rack fan device is too much or HC.

Maybe even a rack/cabinet side fan might be way more than needed…?

If there some space between the rack and cabinet and amp is visible from there.
Small DIY project with few ultra silent cabinet fan’s like speks: Noise Level: 6-14 dBA, Airflow Level: 32 CFM could be enough to get air moving. Cheap, easy and quiet solution.

Thank you both so much for the suggestions, since i moved the rack to this position i was worried the big amp on the bottom might not be getting enough airflow. I just wasn’t sure what was available and if there was even a need. Yes it is open to all sides, i just figured pulling some of the hot air the big amp generates out would be usefull.

since hot air rises, you should have that kinda stuff at the top, no? easier to blow away rather than have it sift up through the rest of the gear.

you probably will want to find a few of those 200mm fans and zip strip them on the back side.

that plus a couple quite fans like the ones linked. you can bolt it to your rack

That’s cool, thank you.
