Lack of opinions on what? The dude always has an opinion. Or are they slagging him fro not being constantly negative?
seemingly the latter⌠and him not having a good ear for soundâŚ
the top comment is
What the FUCK (x company!) These are just⌠look at anime girl. These headphones are that!
While managing to say close to nothing about sound or actually review the cans
He can be entertaining though, I just donât rely on him for legit impressions
Seems pretty accurate to me lol
See I wont hate on Zeos, because I see him as an entertainer first and foremost, and that tone is a bit unfair, but I canât say that a lot of his reviews arenât⌠that. (the anime waifu wallpaper stuff Iâve never gotten personally either but thatâs not judgement of any kind)
I just wish, especially now since I canât audition anything because plague, that some of the stuff were more detailed in the sound. The most he brings up is what heâs listening to.
*rants about the cable for 20 minutes"
this $50 headphone sucks unless you slap the Cuddly McFuck Cushions for $100 a pair on them
ok yeah this is hilarious
Zeos canât hear the haters⌠or the equipment he
reviewsaffiliate shills
this is just more NTR shit
I think people give Z way too much shit just because his reviews arenât super technical. But honestly I think thatâs the appeal of his reviews. Especially when youâre new to the hobby. When I first started looking for stuff hearing people talking about the texture of the bass and or the sparkle or air of the treble was not only unhelpful it was kind of off putting. Z gets his point about the quality of sound and build much better to the layman than any other reviewer imo.
I feel like whole concept of âshillâ is a post 08 internet nonsense invention where people simply⌠forgot how most review stuff like this works and basically its an insult slung at someone they dont like and nothing more
like the wrong spandex chucker franchise, Marvel and or DC Shill
Like the flash bang pew pew video game box? Xbox or sony shill
Itâs a meaningless term
but he made a claim that wasnât 100% accurate!!! who cares if he is pretty much just unscripted first impressions
I watch zeos for entertainment value and not really to be informed⌠Heâs the standup comedian of yt audio reviewers. I mean fug I watch his unboxing channel, him packing and moving, and his sound demos.
I prefer the sound demos from Digital Stereophony to his. I prefer about 6 other channels for hp reviews and about 10 other channels for speakers.
Isnât Hans the guy who loves MQA more than anything?
do we really wanna get into the debate on THAT
I agree with that partially and for me he was also one of the reviewers i watched when starting this hobby. The issue for me started when I realized that there is more than thx in the world and that amp/dac pairing make a difference for particular hp. He rarely goes there but to be fair not sure who from reviewers do.
I bought some stuff based on his req most I liked some were miss for me but I take that as part of my learning process and costs.
I would say that if Z can have unpacking chanel he could have one with short reviews for more advanced people in the hobby. But I guess majority of his patreons are more into unboxing that gear synergies (no offense).
Zeos is great entainment, an audio nut straps on a gopro and watch the hijinks ensue. Little behind on home theater like his AVR/projector but his channels are pretty helpful.
The measured performance vs sound quality argument has always fascinated me. I see no conflict if measurement is done well and to support good design. In fact designing and testing without measurements would be a strange way to do things.
However, to appreciate measurements it is important to understand what is being measured and how. Metrology is a technical discipline in its own right and one which too few study. Measuring accurately is not just a case of buying a toy and hooking it up. You need to have a standardised measurement procedure, understand uncertainty and repeatability and understand what parameter is being measured. What has happened is people have started promoting a âhigher x = betterâ mentality which has led to a manufacturer arms race to over optimize designs around certain parameters. Over optimising any design like that is normally only sensible when those parameters really are absolutely critical as the result tends to be a rather compromized product.
The other thing is that audio objectivity just becomes subjectivity. Itâs an irony that makes me laugh as some measurement obsessives are genuinely oblivious to the fact that chasing measurements which are way way beyond anything audible and replacing gear whenever a product that adds another SINAD point is released is just another form of subjectivism. And of course it is one that manufacturers exploitoit.
I have done a lot of measurements in my own field of engineering and value measurements greatly, but when I see certain sites putting their measurements on a pedestal I do wonder.
Sandu aka Soundnews is absolutely one of my favorite ânewâ YT channels / reviewers. A great balances of details about functionality, sound quality/performance, price, and bench-marking against competition.
He typically does an extensive written article:
Heâll do an extensive 15-20 min overview on yt:
Now, I donât get how neither of these guys got mentioned yet.
Porta(dot)fi and Audiophile Heaven (George Dobrescu), are the absolute worst sellouts. These two guys are the reason I started reviewing.
Both of them are purely driven by free products and clearly only care about getting more. They are full of BS and exclusively use descriptive words without backing them up - essentially itâs safe to call them poets.
I donât think anyone can learn anything about a product from neither of these guys, at least not truly. I am mainly talking about sound characteristics, they do not explain or back up their terms, and sound isnât something everybody hears the same. Poetry like âgorgeous warm midsâ, âtight and fast bassâ, âfastâ, âbrighterâ, etc. simply do not give anybody a slight idea what they are talking about. What is bright for one person, isnât bright for another, therefore explanation is essential for being objective and useful with your wording.
Headfonics falls under the same category. I just gave them a quick visit and hopped in the Shuoer Tape review, and to no surprise I was met with poetry and BS - âI can almost taste the warmthâŚâ
Well, thanks, that really helps me out to understand the product. They are also extremely lazy with their photography.
I believe these are entertainment writers, they should not be considered reviewers, and neither should they label their articles are reviews.
Agree 100%.
Add âMajorHifiâ in that list. Those pieces of shit made me lose 100 usd on the Final Audio F3100. And their review on the Kinera FreyaâŚso damn obvious that they are avoiding calling it shit and just beat around the bush to not piss Kinera off.
A lot of sub-humans that call themselves reviewers just to suck of the brands that sends them stuff.
Yup⌠thatâs the sad reality. Just checker MajorHifi out⌠and damn. Their photography looks like itâs from 2003 lol
Btw. On a good note - good reviewer, THARBAMAR!!! He is on youtube and is just one of the best reviewers of speaker related gear period. He always had the same songs playing and would upload them separately. Genuin and honest guy, has been around for quite some time. Humble af
Whoa⌠that was a bit⌠nasty?
To the people that lost money because of them, they have the right to call them out on that. Since they totally deserves it (I am actually holding back on my rant too).
