if a product that is hyped is not detailed enough then its trash and should burn
Well what really kind of throws me off with this obsession with the detail and the sinad performance is like forgetting a major component/factor of the equation:
the quality of said detail.
Amir like auditions a piece of equipment for like 30 minutes max from what I gather and listens to like 2 songs or maybe one album.
You can get a shitload of detail from a D90, but you also get a shitload of detail from a Chord HugoTT2, Terminator, or Mola Mola Tambaqui, and the nature and expression of that detail is going to be inherently different in the implemation of each of those custom dacs than some AK Delta Sigma dacs and that matters.
Like… My ifi micro black label sounds inherently different from my Hugo TT 2. And if they put out the same measurements, and you spend no time actually listening to them, it would give you a misrepresentation of both because there is a clear CLEAR difference between an 800 CAD dac versus 6000 dollar CAD dac

its almost like people buy these dacs for differences in sound quality and textures and not just for objective reasons…
sure you can hate FPGAs and stuff a lot but some love the warmth they can give

So is it a hot short Pizza cook or a longer cooler one

my experience Hot short. you can get interesting textures and very crispy uniform crust with Longer cooler one but yo get that sudden high heat cook gives you that quintessential pizza texture and taste
Also wood is better tasting overall
(my source made pizza tonight for dinner at half the temp paul describes)

I think 600-650 is ideal. 800 seems a bit high to me.
That’s just the average heat of a wood fired pizza oven
these are the type of people in the community I like to call "tweakophiles but a very odd subsection wwhere instead of worrying over the smallest things cause “every component makes a difference” it’s they forgot music and sound existed and chase that higher and hisgher SINAD score even though at this point with half the gear he measures any noise in the signal should not be perceptible to the human ear.
Starting to sound a bit like a Sennheiser oven to me?

i dont mind darko either even though he is mostly promoting the super expensive products (not everyone can afford something like a dragonfly red/cobalt as the only portable dac you recommend)

hans is… unique… he tries to be a scientific audiophile and it kinda feels complicated when he does these indepth things on why mqa is actually great and how everything is technically lossy and all this stuff so its hard to watch his stuff…
I feel like I’m watching NPR, PBS, or an episode of Bob Ross when I watch Hans. Somehow I find his style refreshing in a world of flava clowns on youtube.
Hans is an interesting character
Literally the only thing I wish he would change is his interstitial audio cues which drive me up the wall
