Also, DMS made a patreon video on cables talking about a visit to PS Audio to test a theory between a Best Buy cable and an “Audiophile” cable. In short, a difference can be heard for that speaker setup.
Yes at that point cables made a significant difference. But for 99.9% of setups good reasonable cables are good for most people
paul from ps audio seriously creeps me out. hes like a bit too happy and too persuasive and u can see him sometimes getting very short tempered. reminds me of a serial killer.
lol anyway, he does claim some crazy stuff about cables but keep in mind he is targeting a very expensive market. he sells products that cost a lot of money so spending some money on cables isn’t a big deal for him and his audience. like mentioned above, he does have to make content for his viewers and as long as u take what he says with a grain of salt there are things to learn about audio by watching his channel. for instance he speaks about rock music and why some gear isn’t the best for that genre. i never knew why but his explination was very helpful. what isn’t helpful though is when he “puts down” people for not having totl gear. to each his own

So basically if have a room that has been acoustically treated, high end speakers, equipment, etc. Then a cable from the source could potentially make a difference on a cymbal hi hat sound tapering off.

I agree that good quality is good enough for 99% of the systems out there. Additionally, I’d expect to hear a difference between plain old OFC good quality cables compared to silver cables, but then that’s rarefied air that my wallet would never allow me visit.

I’d love something definitive on this. The Z-face thing has been part of the Z meme for years. But Z goes to headphone meets regularly. Plus, it was his own idea to do a publicly available room at RMAF in which he was hanging out for two or three days with a name badge on for all comers to see. Presumably in the thousands. Without further information, it seems at least as likely to me that Z was simply not part of Paul’s universe and Paul had no idea as to the particulars of Z’s shtick. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Paul was genuinely trying to promote what he might think of as the relatively unknown new-comers Z and DMS by giving them face time in one of his videos.
Z also makes a big deal about not keeping his location a secret, including in a post recently on this forum. Yet in a very recent video he invites all and sundry to drop into his apartment to hear a particular tube amp. Contradictions abound.
You also should take into account the generation gap between z and paul. Paul probably doesn’t understand or see any value in keeping your face hidden that z does. It might be a foreign concept to paul and he might not have understood the value of hiding his face. But yeah z has pretty much accepted that he can’t really hide or keep stuff private anymore

z has shown his face many times. and he dosen’t really care. z mentioned it himself, that’s just his gimmick. just like the anime waifus, not showing his face is his gimmick but he has literally commented on videos where people say that they have seen his face and he just plays around. he dosen’t seriously care
