Yeah. It’s a very “grain of salt” situation
Haha! I mentioned the awkward chuckle on another forum.
There’s that one youtube channel where I think i’m watching Pat because I can’t figure if it’s a dude or girl. Besides that problem I just want to reach into my phone and punch the hell outta It.
Meze RULES!!!
New YouTube reviewer:
I add this to the list for completeness but you guys won’t like him. Closet Harman target freak with graphs in his headphone reviews. That said, first part of each review might occasionally be of use since he does a very detailed breakdown of construction and ergos of each headphone.
Well it does say his focus is on gear for creators, and creators would want an accurate harman or a studio flat sound, as they would use them more as tools then for listening enjoyment
This guy just popped up as a related video for me the other day. I only watched his review of the LCD-1 and I thought it was pretty good. I like when a reviewer mentions the songs he tests equipment with, and even more when I don’t hate the songs they reference. I can’t say whether or not I’ll continue to watch as he seems to focus on iEMs more than I’d prefer, but this was a decent first impression:
yes - I also started following him 2 weeks ago, cause he is a ifi fan and featured some interesting products
I liked his approach
it is maybe not usual to see it these days - because people tend to fear a double chin
you get used to that look - like on instagram … duckface and from slight above hahaaa
in deed, it is quite normal to setup a wider camera between desk and forehead height
mabe his mini table tripod is not as high
find some of his storys interesting
and he is quite responsive on youtube comments/questions
he was very supportive a few times and I like his approach with music tracks
in one of his latest videos he told, he would get some DAC/Amps in future and over ear headphones
in the past he was more of a exclusive IEM and DAP guy
This guy I had a very hard time taking seriously, as his desk looked like a mess.
It just seems like he is more of a music lover then a headphone reviewer, more just judging what he likes that makes music better for him which I don’t think its a bad thing
Its not, but being slightly OCD struck, that kind of mess makes it go through the roof for me
I know people have their opinions on various reviewers. I enjoy the majority of them for what their strengths are and I don’t tend to focus on negative stuff. I want them all to do well.
With that said, no harm done if you’re not interested and many of us travel in the same circles, but if you’d consider giving William Murdoch from The Headphone Experience a subscribe, I’d really appreciate it.
He’s on a push to get to 1000 subs so he can monetize the channel and help with return shipping costs from loaner headphones. I value his reviews and if you’re not already subbed, I hope you will as well.
Give him a try and a sub if you are so inclined.
Thanks!!!
He was actually the one that got me interested in the new kennerton headphones. I had heard some of the older revisions and didn’t really think about trying them until I heard what he had to say and tried out a pair for myself
Same here. He’s no-frills, but on one review he broke everything down in something like 17 parts. I would love for him to get monetized so more headphones get into his hands. Good content for us all.
Bggar - now with Zeos style unboxing.
There’s a funny video with Paul at PS audio. I think some of the questions he tackles are moronic, and if someone claiming to be an audiophile that buy PS audio shit is asking about the difference between a home theater speaker and a music speaker…
They deserve to by rapped on the head with a power strip.
The funny thing with Paul in this video is the Infinity IRS 5 speakers he’s standing next to. Apparently in 1990 when those speakers were being sold for $45,000 wiring them with monster cable was the way to go. Today apparently that’s all wrong according to Paul.
I think that for the 10% silly/stupid/weird ideas Paul puts out, the other 90% is mostly good advice that people in general should hear.
I put him in the same basket as Steve the Audiophiliac. They’re decent dudes that made their money and their rep a long time ago, that just want to share what they know. Even if they sound out of touch sometimes.
In this video, Paul said he convinced both Zeos and DMS that cables made a difference that they were able to hear. Neither of them ever talked about this in their reviews afterwards. “Cables make a difference”
I want details god dammit.
Paul’s knowledge and personable teaching style make him useful. He also makes very audacious claims about himself. His claim that he can instantly recognize different USB cables “as soon as he walks in the room” is a bit over the top.
