šŸ”¶ Harmonicdyne Zeus - God of Thunder?

If I don’t want the mids to be recessed, what options do I have left?

Depends on your priorities. 660s and Sundara might have the most mid presence, with 660 being a pretty narrow stage and Sundara being a bit wider. I’m a big fan personally of the Audeze house sound, which the M1070 emulates pretty well. The mids may take a slight dip, but are still pretty full and pleasant. DT880s have a nice midrange, also neutral bright with relatively light low end. Focal Elegias are linear with a slight mid range emphasis and I found very transparent to the source to give you what’s in the mix. Some people have issues with seal impacting the low end quantity due to wearing glasses, but I never did.

Lots of options, some of which depends on your source gear synergies as well as what sound you’re going for.

Thank you for the reply. My source is ifi zen dac which is warmer than thx amps. Also, I can buy the hifiman ananda for 500 brand new. Should I go for the ananda instead?

I haven’t heard the Ananda personally. I understand it has pretty good technicalities for the price, but can be a little hit or miss depending on your tolerance for peaks in the treble region or willingness to mess with EQ to manage those peaks. I personally just don’t mess with EQ. I only keep it if it’s something I like out of the box or perhaps with a pad/tip swap, or if it synergizes particularly well with source gear I have.

Just ordered my Zeus so I can play with my new magnius/Mobius stack! I’m waiting on my GL2k but that will be almost 3 months on order. Hoping these are the step up I have heard they are over my TYGRs. Love this hobby…though my wallet doesn’t. Such is life.

Where can you get the zeus for 250? o.o

This is exactly my set up that arrived in the last couple weeks. Switching from HEL/TYGR300 to Magnius/Modius and Zeus. I think the jump was worth it but it’s probably biased because I spent the money on it.

Both are great combinations. The Zeus/Mag/Modius just feels bigger and more full. I usually test all my audio stuff with Loscil’s Plume album since I’ve listen to it hundreds of times. With the Zeus and feel and notice more than anything else I’ve tried.

Got mine a few days ago! Off the weekend to spend listening time.

Would these pair well with an HD660S? Or are these considered mid-forward just as the HD series. Meaning that purchasing this would not be a good complement to the HD660S?

I was just reading the thread… apparently when the Zeus was first released and on tour in China the stock cable was hated by everyone so they upgraded the cable to a nicer one in the post-December batches. In post-January batches the changed the piece of tuning paper next to the driver

This my first time doing an impression/review of a headphone, so bare with me on my lack of terminology. The only other headphones I have owned that I consider a step into audiophile are the TYGRs that these replaced. Before that I owned mostly all ā€œgamingā€ headsets. The latest were the Sennheiser GSP 600.
I currently am using a Heresy/Modi3 stack on SE of course…

Build is fantastic in my opinion. I love the look, feel and though they are heavier I have found they have settled in to my head nicely. First few hours I admit I had some discomfort. For reference I have a bigger head…family curse. Round shape if that helps.
I actually like the included cable but I know others have not. Yes it’s thick and a bit stiff, but just has a very quality feel to it I appreciate.

Sound - my TYGRs sounded great. Imaging and Soundstage were impressive and noticable for gaming.
On the Zeus I don’t notice a huge difference here but I definitely get more detail from these. I feel these are a bit more recessed in treble compared to the TYGR but not bad on either.
Bass was interesting. At first I was actually disappointed in bass compared to the TYGR until I realised…I just wasn’t hearing a rumble. What I’m actually hearing is clean bass. Sub bass is for sure not very big, but it’s still accurate. I’ve come to really enjoy the sig of these.
Mids I can tell are punchy at certain Hertz and then recessed a bit too. Hope that makes sense.

I’m enjoying.listening to my main music which is Rock, Metal, hip hop and even classic rock…some soft stuff…punk…early alternative…anything I’ve tried them on has sounded great to me! I game quite a bit too and man they are damn good! I’ve refrained from telling my buddy who has the Fidelio x2hr just what he’s missing lol.

I can’t wait to continue to evolve my ears as I get more into this hobby…but if I decided to stop today with Zeus, I would be perfectly content with that. I have a Magnius/Modius on the way so I can try these balanced to see if I notice a difference.

I know they are priced right at the Sundaras which I have not listened to…but I do know we are talking different Sig’s here and dynamic vs Planar. I still need to hear a Planar at some point but something tells me I’ll be a Dynamic preferred taste in the long run.

Same. I don’t like eqing. I like listening to headphones the way they are designed

Finally, it took a long time but I finally managed to snag one of these on order without the stupid return policies… should have it next week…

That’s cool. Excited to hear your opinion. So far i do enjoy them as an upgrade of the fidelio x2. Definetly not neutral, but they are fun and have quite good detail

I’ve heard great things so far… I do think I’ll enjoy them just not sure if they are keepers on my wall lol. Though I like to check out all sorts of headphones and equipment

I’ll leave my thoughts on here later on what I think

As someone who owns a pair of harmonicdyne Zeus. There now is a affordable bucket list pair of cans. The harmonicdyne Zeus and literally the god of thunder i can not recommend them enough. I just reminded myself i still have to make a video on them because ive been putting it of for 2 months because i dint think i can do them justice.

Received notice that these will be in today. I have my doubts but we will see. Won’t have any words about them for a few days

came in, case is great… those pads are fantastic, so far so good… haven’t listened to them yet busy with the aeons

I gave these one listen… and since then they have stayed on my head for the past 3 hours… if that says anything.

These… now im quite critical but these… may end up on my wall honestly. Not a fan of the build quality but the sound and comfort of these is quite something. Definitely not timbre headphones… definitely not super natural headphones… absolutely not detail monsters… definitely not meant for competitive gaming(not at all… they rumble on that bass… less you EQ them which I will try out later on). Just super relaxing laid back signature… with a very wide and large depthy soundstage this is definitely a more ā€œfunā€ headphone. More on this later, I want to give this some time
