there have been several phone makers that have built a model with an audio focus, but I’m curious if the reverse has ever been attempted?

A good Dap is big as it is, add in phone tech until tech gets smaller it’ll look a bit like this?..

Audiophile ppl are already carying chonky portable setups anyway, I bet they wouldn’t mind looking like this as long as it sounds like gold

A phone is a notoriously noisy device. Why start from a place of disadvantage?

This’s true…high-tier Dap’s are trying to keep the signal as clean as poss…why start that quest on the ropes?.
why? because of reasons, dammit! 
I suppose you could use something like the dx300 as almost a phone, basically you’d only really be limited to not having specifically phone functionality like 4g and phone calls, which I’ve personally found I kinda use less and less now.
