Head-Fi is it dead or just down?

A vpn is the only other way you can test it now. Besides reaching the mods somehow.

I wonder who you made mad lol, knowing you I can’t imagine that anything you would ever post would be IP ban worthy…

I can’t recall exactly but maybe my… this site is full of Penon shills post :man_shrugging: seems they’re triggered by anything anti Penon either comment or review  Penon must be pumping shit loads of :moneybag: into Jude’s bank account to have his Nazgûl’s flex over such minor tomfuckery :innocent:

oh lol wtf.
(why surfshark though?)

hmmm doesnt make sense they would just IP ban but not ban the account.

Then again with how headfi is wouldnt be surprised.

Yeah its quite weird and seems like the harder solution to ban someone…

I’ve been looking into VPN’s for a while now and surfshark seemed to deliver the best bang for :pound:. Considering the head-fi situation I thought I’d give it a go, the main reason though was “this video isn’t available in your area” when I clicked on some of the YouTube links in the listening to tonight thread, that used to really piss me off

Aaa yeah they are definitely one of the cheapest. Although if you wanted more privacy, its either Proton or Mullvad I say.

Yep good for sure :+1: ultimately it came down to these three…

Surfshark does all we need tbh, privacy’s good they use RAM so data isn’t stored long but I guess being based in the Netherlands some might take that as a possible weak point? but being able to use as many devices as you want and the price sealed the deal for us oh and I think they’re owned by NORD?

When I was made a Mod on here I was told if you delete a user (say a flagged spammer) to just delete and not block their IP address, blocking the IP address can effect other users as well, I don’t know how so but I only delete the user…maybe that’s what happened in my case :man_shrugging:

Because the IP address that they see, is a specific public IP address that everyone using the same router/ISP at home has. Your own (private) IP address locally/home is of course different, one device could be 192.168.0.2 and another 192.168.0.3 (192.168.0.1 is likely the router).

Think of it like an apartment building with one street address (public IP) but different apartment numbers (private IPs) for each unit.

So blocking the Public IP address, as in the apartment building, would mean that EVERYONE (private IPs) inside it would be affected
