As a person who’s had a BF2 paired with my GSX mini for about a week this comment makes me sad that I have to upgrade again
When paired with something like a spring 2 that makes it more neutral leaning, but pair it with a more dead neutral dac and it shows it’s slightly brighter nature. It’s not full on bright like the gsx mk2, but it’s more slightly bright leaning
It took me like 3-4 months to truly noticed I was missing the detail. Don’t be sad. I literally had to adapt to the quality before noticing the difference. Also… please be different from me: STFU and get the Yggdrasil or a Gungnir A2 when it’s released. With the mini… you will be happy if you want the BF2 but more. Also get a bigger desk/rack to accommodate that large piece of Schiit.
Nah it’s fine. I know there’s better. I’m actually waiting for Spring 3 to be released later this year anyway. There’s already a prototype being sent around for review and it’s promisingly close to the Holo May (measurement and design wise).
Now you made me sad. I have the Spring 2 and thought I was happy.
This hobby has a way of making everyone sad
(jk I’ve seen worse hobbies)
The only way to make someone sad in this hobby is to ruin one’s blissful ignorance.
As someone that just put a Yggy on his desktop. Yes, I can agree to this statement. BTW, the Yggy beats my Holo Cyan in a number of areas, staging depth width and height… on a desktop. That’s hard to do.
Got it… I’ll SPRING for a Yggy instead! Now I want try one out with the Mini.
“The Singxer is peak Class-A”
At first I assumed that the discrepancies among ears that I trust who’ve heard the GS-X mini and zeos’ impressions were due to hearing loss/damage on zeos’ part, but the above quote taken from the GS-X mini review demonstrates to me that the reality is he’s focused on pushing affiliate links.
I already said a lot about the Mini. I don’t agree with Z’s assessment, but that’s ok. Reviewers can disagree and that’s ultimately helpful to consumers willing to do their homework. I will echo @DagoRed and @M0N and remind everyone that synergy matters with the Mini…a lot. I have an entire section dedicated to that point in my review. And I’ll say again that the synergy causes a range in the Mini’s signature from neutral to bright. I can not fairly describe its sounds as warm. That’s just my take, though.
Three amps I have used recently are the HeadAmp GS-X mini, Singxer SA-1, and the Burson Soloist 3X. They all are very good, but all sound different. I have not seen Zeos’ review of the Mini, but I agree with his review of the Singxer, that I thought was amazing. Still, my clear preference is for the Burson, which is the one that I kept.
That’s the problem lol, even if someone as a reviewer didn’t prefer the gsx to other options (which is just fine, personally not the biggest gsx fan myself but I can respect it), it still does not sound similar to the singxer at all from my experience which is why his thoughts are so confusing
Did you find the SA-1 to be notably similar to some other amp?
I’ve keeping an eye out for a good priced V280 for the past 6 months but haven’t seen anything. So now I’m considering other options.
Anytime I watch a zeos review of a product greater than $750 I now think
Although is zeos the husband or Bethany?
SA1 yes, GSX no. I don’t have any relationship with Headamp.
Perhaps the flux fa-12? Otherwise nothing super similar
Darn
Gotcha, so mainly looking for a 280 alternative?
Preferably I’m looking for anything that leans warm/musical. That also doesn’t pair badly with an Ares II.
But if I see a great deal, I’m open to other things like the GSX mini
I’d keep an eye out for a taurus mk2, bha-1, and also a soloist 3xp imo in the range you are after, all should be able to be had used at 1k ish and would work well with what you have and are after imo
