Headphone for edm/chill trap under $200

Hey! I’m looking for a new set of headphones for gaming/listenging, but I’m a bit lost. I’ve thought about getting a sennheiser hd 599 (used), but I fear it wouldn’t be very well suited for the type of music I listen to (if it helps, check out Step by step from DROELOE, or a more radical would be Playground by Curbi).
I don’t play any games overly competitively, but it’s nice to have good imaging. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I’m not from the US, so I can’t really get my hands on massdrop stuff.

Hope someone can help me out!
Thanks for your input in advance!

p.s.: I should mention that I don’t own an amp, nor do I plan to buy one in the near future.

I’m from Europe. We can get massdrop here but you gotta add like 50% :stuck_out_tongue:
The Meze 99 Classics for €300 or the Meze 99 neo for €200 are pretty great for EDM and have a very respectable soundstage for closed backs!

Hi and welcome to HFGF
Another option if you can drive them would be the dt 770 250ohm :+1:

for chill hop. I actually really like the hd 58x super good for chill hop and chill trap expecially with that smooth high end to counteract a lot of the intentional compression a lot of chill hop, fidelio x2 hr’s will be good if you like you bass and meze 99 noir if you want a closed back and really like bass

Beyer 770 Pro’s are worth looking into, but I’m not as familiar with the newer stuff people have mentioned.

edit: new to forum, didnt realize this was 5 months old.

58x, they’re on sale rn too (seems I’m late tho lol)

Old thread, but Audeze Mobius with a bass boost (iFi iDSD Micro Black Label or EQ?) is an EDM monster. For gaming and movies without EQ they’re awesome.
Only downside is they are battery powered, but you can charge and play.

Without a bass boost though, I’d just get a V-Moda M100. Sure you lose some of the planar clarity and positioning, but it’s a far more fun headphone for that kind of music - and if you’re not playing super competitively, it shouldn’t matter toooooo much xD

Plus, you can do silly things like this with the V-Moda that most planars under £1500 couldn’t dream of doing without falling apart. But then you’d need a really good amp (something putting out 4W or more at 16ohms) and would have to mess around with EQ.
Worth it though xD
