I live in the Netherlands and Just got the SMSL SP200. I have it plugged into my gaming pc and I get this hiss through my headphones. I have tried with 3 different head phones hiss still there, the I plugged it into my cellphone throuw a usb c dongle to 3mm and there was no hiss. I also plugged it into my ps4 controller (with the 3mm to RCA) and no hiss.
I’m thinking that if I get a DAC with optical input I can get rid of most of the hiss. I’ve been looking at the smsl su-8 on amazon.de, but sadly they don’t deliver this DAC to the Netherlands. My question is: will a DAC remove the hiss?
So it sounds like you have a ground loop here, and a dac might solve that for you (along with providing better sound quality). For a dac, can you get a topping d50s perhaps?
Thanks! I just looked ant it also doesn’ ship to nl, I’m thinking of just getting a Enog2. Geshelli does ship to NL. Then I can feed the Sp200 through xlr cables.
I recommend using a simple DAC [SMSL?] and optical connection between it and the computer as a start. USB from a computer can have a lot of noise and optical has a much lower noise floor. Connect the amp to the DAC. Hopefully your computer has optical out. Good luck ; ]
