No question, that headphones that I missed still and to this day will always be the Audio Technica ATH-M40Xs, for those were my first cans that I used to own where it all satisfied my needs. The sounds of it is the reason why I got into this hobby today and I also invested some mods of it in order to make it much better than before, like the new ear pads I installed on those, some new headband that increases comfort and finally a better wire for it. What cans back then you used to own and still miss it today?
Oh you planning on buying them back for sure right?
And personally the DT 990 600 ohms. Those were my first pair of headphones and honestly fell in love with them, really really miss those often. Had the money recently to buy them again but decided to go for another headphone. I’m definitely planning on getting them again.
I’ve sold and repurchased HD650 2 times. I didn’t have the proper gear to appreciate them the 1st time I owned them. The 2nd time I sold them to help fund my purchase of my LCD-2C. When I got into tubes, I had to buy them again. My LCD-2C, HD650 and Atticus all are forever staying with me. My fourth slot has rotated, but I’m enjoying the Neumann NDH 20 at the moment. Pity they aren’t more comfortable for longer listening sessions.
I lost my Sennheiser Momentum original black and red over a year ago. I loved those.
Funny enough, losing them actually is what got me into audiophile stuff. I was searching for really cool or unique headphones to replace them, I saw a review of the Nighthawk by Zeos, put them on my Christmas wish list, got them, added a Plenue D DAP, and the rest is history!
I still listen to my sister’s pair every once in a while. They are a very pleasurable warm headphone with excellent bass and nice mids, and the highs are still fairly detailed while being rolled back. They were quite stylish too.
The nighthawks are definitely unique. They aren’t as dark as people say they are, unless your reference is a brighter set of cans like a 990…then the nighthawks sound dark for sure. I liked the nighthawks but didn’t love them, so I moved on. Still think they are misunderstood and have a lot of positives such as comfort. That being said, I’m not a fan of Audioquest and the snake oil they peddle.
Not a headphone, but I really miss my MDR EX1000, kinda mad I sold it awhile ago lol
Oh yeah, they have the snake oil in the booklet that comes with them. I don’t understand people saying they are dark, I actually think they might have an ever so slight v shape, bit with the upper highs rolled off. There is nothing quite like putting them on for the first time, it felt like I had stepped into paradise and all these sounds were coming from everywhere. Being younger and even younger mentally, I legit freaked out a bit with them lol. If there’s anything I miss about it’s that feeling, because I am so used to them now as my daily, they sound sort of normal now lol.
Yeah I am planning to, but not anytime soon. If only my little brothers were a bit more careful when they borrowed my M40Xs for one of them accidentally sat on it and did not know it was on him when he sat on it. When I got back from a long hour train trip that I was also holding my piss barely, I got off the train ran for the bathroom immediately all good now right from a bad scenario right? Nope, when I got home I discovered once I looked for my M40Xs, I opened my desk drawer and there I saw my M40Xs, all broken the hinges broke and they somehow tried to fix it with superglue and man oh man I am not going to lie, I was legit damn angry and overall SOOO done with my day when it happened.
