Nice looking “normal” headphones and I’d like to support Hedd as I owned a pair of their monitors with AMT tech but I already own the sennheiser HD490, they are also too expensive for my tastes
Hd600 / 650 replacement tuning… but yawn for me
I am coming up on two straight weeks of use/ownership. I LOVE these! Great, wide range of sound. Pretty good bass too. Better than I expected. Everything is so clear. Treble is great, without being piercing. I just finished a few days of jazz with a strong dose of Miles Davis. I am now finishing off the day with Genesis.
My favourite headphones are the Focal Clear OG’s. I think of these, so far, as “Clear lites". Not quite as much bass and the headband is hurting my head, but overall I am Very pleased.
My best purchase in a long time. And after two weeks of ownership I think I can safely say they are a keeper!
I’ve been interested in this one for some time…few reports other than
some positive reviewers, so thanks for this. Any further reports from
you would be appreciated. eg. have you tried it with a warmer, less
technical amp?
I haven’t used them in a few weeks. I will likely pull them out next week. My amp collection is:
Violectric V220. Warm, lush SS amp.
iFi Pro iCAN. Hybrid tube amp (or can work in SS mode) that is the Swiss army knife of amps with TONS of power.
Monoprice Liquid Platinum hybrid tube amp. Several sets of tubes to manage different flavours.
Schiit Vali 3 hybrid tube amp. I have many tubes and a few adapters to use even more tubes.
New toy is the very cheap Fosi GR70 tube amp. Supposed to be all tube. LOVE the treble and bass dials!
Thanks. Surprised the V220 is warm for you…thought Vios were all
more technical like my Lake People G111. I do have an older, warmer Asgard 3 but like the G111 for depth and detail esp. with Sundara and Beyer 880.
The D1 specs and reviews seem to fit my requirements for detail, yet
still some lower body. Mostly classical and female jazz vocals and some
soundtracks.
It is a nice headphone. My favourite headphone is my Focal Clear’s - OG. These trail the Clear’s only in the bass department, IMO. But they really hurt the top of my head. I will improvise something or just get a Capra strap.
I don’t find the Vio thick and gooey, but a little warm and smooth. I LOVE this amp. I find it great with most headphones except for very bassy or dark headphones. If you have headphones that are sharp, (Beyer?) this will smooth them out a bit.
Thanks for the input. Have a great day!
Hey @ShaneD Nice to see your post.
How you doin’? I still lurk here now and then. I just mostly hang out at Head-Fi, but also duck in here and SBAF the odd time.
Gotcha. I’m hangin in there, Sir! We finally retired and got the hell out of Shitafornia - err - Kalifornia and moved to East Texas. Absolutely love it here. Unfortunately, I torched my right shoulder in the move. But I’m dealing with it. It sucks gettin old! ![]()
Glad to hear you are still enjoying the headphones. I’m with Tim, those grabbed my attention as well. I’m just not sure where they would align with the rest of my fleet.
